Dear All.I am a new boy to the Porsche Club and this forum,my problem is with my temperature gauge on my 2003 Carrera 4S the worst thing about it it is it is an intermitant problem.Have had the water system checked and refilled with coolant at Porsche Bolton to check for any airlocks, both temperature sensors have been replaced and also the thermostat. When the computer was hooked up after running for half an hour it was only showing 60 degrees. Now you can run out in the car and it will be perfect but it will only run at 80 degrees when you are on the motorway when you are in town or just driving around the country roads it is showing under 80 degrees, the gauge also seems to take a long time t

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Is it a Tiptronic, by any chance? Edit: Sorry!

POST 4Original post

I remember a couple of people having this problem. It is caused by a vacuum pipe becoming disconnected or crimped on the control valve for the tiptrinic fluid cooler. The valve stays open, leaving the cooler radiator at the front of the car permanently in the cooling circuit. This causes overcooling, hence the long time for the engine to reach temperature, or not reach the operating temperature at all. I'll try to find the original thread on here..... Edit: Found it! take a look at this post: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/fb.asp?m=426414
