Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will be replacing the intake lifters on my m96.03 due to a misfire on cyl 1 that has been traced back to a stuck intake lifter. My question is, what is the proper break in procedure for new lifters? Also wondering if a specific break in oil should be used and if Driven GP-1 15w40 would be an acceptable oil as I have an unopened case of that sitting on the shelf. I couldn't find any previous threads here that explicitly cover this specific aspect of this repair. If anyone knows of one I'd love to read it if it exists and I missed it.

POST 2Original post

I would put assembly lube on the lifter and as much of the camshaft as you can touch. Also. I've seen some artie of 2000 rpm for 20 minutes. pretty good article here. https://www.enginebuildermag.com/201...%20it%20either .
