Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good Afternoon All, Please can anyone help with what I can do to increase the driver legroom in my 2002 996 C4. I need about another 2 or 3 inches (who doesnt) forward and back travel. I have manually operated seats but recently sat in a similar aged turbo model with electric seats and the drivers seat went alot further back. Is there any adjustments I can do or any seat rail extenders I can buy ? Thankyou.

POST 2Original post

My 997 GT3 seats are a lot lower and give a lot more room than standard, might be worth a thought.

POST 3Original post

Do the 997 seats give more clearance between your thighs and the bottom of the steering wheel?

POST 4Original post

There is some adjustment of height which might get you further back, cant remember which switch it is tho.

POST 5Original post

The 996 seats don't seem to go low enough? It is just the one lever for height and one electric knob for backrest adjustment?

POST 6Original post

Yes. I'm 6'2 and with the seat all the way back and dropped about half way down I am happy to drive for a few hours without too much discomfort.

POST 7Original post

Once it the driving positions is perfect and three hours is no problem but I struggle to slide my legs between the seat and the steering wheel?

POST 10Original post

i am 6ft 4 and the only time i have a problem with legroom is when i have my young uns in the back, but when its just front seats being used there is loads of room! :dont know: :dont know:

POST 11Original post

It's not the legroom as such it's getting my leg in between the steering wheel and the seat squab front. The gap is too small.

POST 12Original post

oh right.....got ya,cant help you though...... :nooo: :nooo:

POST 13Original post

I may have to look for a smaller diameter steering wheel for it I think.

POST 14Original post

Hi, Im 6'6 and I also think I need the wheel up a couple of inches, I am waiting on a new wheel from Carnewal which is slightly smaller plus im going to try and fit it with an eccentric hub spacer which will hopefully raise by another 30mm.

POST 15Original post

I also think there isn't enough long leg room as my gas pedal leg feels hunched up with the seat right back. The 993 had extra holes, but I looked at moving my 996 seat back but it only mounts through one set of holes. Lee
