Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2000 996 103k miles. PCM and dash lights off in morning after sitting all nught. Lights stay off until I restart and they cone back on. Car runs fiine. What should I do about the lights?
For starters, remove the MAF sensor (on the engine air filter box) and get some MAF sensor cleaner at the auto parts store. Clean the sensor and re-install. See if that makes the problem go away. You might need a new Bosch MAF sensor. Make sure you pay attention to how the sensor is installed. It goes in one way only.
You will need a torx security bit to remove the screws that hold in the sensor.
Happened to me when the alternator failed and started charging at a too high voltage, but that would trigger an alternator warning as well. But do check your voltage meter just in case.
I know this sounds crazy, but after removing the MAF, plenum ,etc. in order to change the oil filler tube, I too had a single occurence of a wild PCM+ ABS light.
So, maybe not no crazy...
Any intimate encounters with a pothole recently ? ....Driving from Ohio headed for NC hit a doozy in WV. Next am.fired up my '04 C4S leaving the hotel the PCM and ABS immediatly lit up and for the next 265 miles,I enjoyed a pucker factor + 12 spirited drive to Charlotte where a frontend allignment was needed..
