Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

Read from the bottom up, not tried this before and have found out it did not work the way I expected!!!

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2001 (pre face lift) C4 with the Satnav/phone option. I want to remove the phone handset that sits to the left of the console. Tried to remove the left side trim in the hope of just unplugging the hand set but nothing wants to move - HELP - don't want to get the side panel off in bits. This may well be documented in the archive but I have tried a few search options and not found it.

POST 2Original post

I have a facelift 2003 and would like to remove the phone handset as well.

POST 3Original post

I removed mine no problem so what bits have unscrewed? Have you removed the circular "plug" at the front? I removed the phone but it didn't look right as there was a bulge one side so I removed the whole part and bought a new standard none phone part - as you can tell I don't know the correct part name

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had unscrewed the phone mount, and agree that the complete panel would then need replaced to look right, I was trying to un plug the phone rather than go mad with the wire cutters! Once I got shot of the phone I would look out for a replacement side panel to make it look right. Still need some tips on getting into unplug the phone.

POST 5Original post

Do you mean the phone cable and adapter once the whole unit is off? I actually left mine on behind the new panel. I'd imagine it unplugs from the back of the head unit but I didn't want to take all that out. Knowing my luck it wouldn't go back in or squeak for ever more while driving.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have to break out the crow bar and big hammer and try again. Just have to find a replacement non phone panel then to replace it.

POST 7Original post

Sorry to dredge this up again, how did you guys remove the handset and the console it was sitting on?

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorted it, just need new panel now. Steps to removing the panel with the phone on it; 1. unclip the phone 2. remove the round plastic cover at the bottom of the handset bracket 3. remove torx screw 4. pull panel off centre consol from the rear 5. unplug the handset from the panel 6. remove 3 torx screw from the side bracket 7. remove carpet panel to hide cable 8. put it all back together with new side panel and it will look like new! can take a couple of pic's if it would help anyone

POST 9Original post

Would be good if you can thanks. Though mine is PCM2, I'm hoping they will be similar.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Phone removal. Read from the bottom up, not tried this before and have found out it did not work the way I expected!!! Note a replacement non phone panel is around £285 +VAT

POST 11Original post

Yup thanks. Figured it out yesterday, PCM2's removal is the same way as PCM1. I decided to put a few double-sided tape on the phone holder and stick my cellphone holder to the existing trim. 285 quid? No thanks. Plus VAT!

POST 12Original post

£285 is for the leather covered panel. Get a "leatherette" version. About £40.
