Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've had VW's & Audi's for many years and used the ETKA system to look for part numbers, useful to go to the dealer armed with the part numbers you need.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I collected a 996 40th Anniversary late last week and phoned up to join the club today. Looking forward to getting my membership through so i can access the other parts of the forum and apply for the certificate of authenticity. I've got a few questions that I hope you can help with. I've had VW's & Audi's for many years and used the ETKA system to look for part numbers, useful to go to the dealer armed with the part numbers you need. Is the Porsche parts catalogue available anywhere? A few parts i need so far are: A new cigarette lighter, Its been used a few times so is dirty, as a non smoker i want a fresh one in the car. The fuel filler cap doesn't have the rubber lanyard to keep it attached to the car, are these available to buy? The third thing I may need is a new heated read screen switch as driving home in the rain today I wanted to heat the rear screen but pressing the symbol on the switch didn't turn on the light or seem to heat the screen. The button felt solid rather clicking like the others do, the section with the light in clicks as normal. Is this a common problem with the switches, can they be taken apart to fix or easily changed? Thanks Steve

POST 2Original post

You can download a PDF version of the PET (Porsche's equivalent to the VW Etka catalogue) from here: http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/porscheservice/originalparts/originalpartscatalogue/

POST 3Original post

Hi Darell & steve, Welcome aboard chaps, please post some pics for us to admire... Darrell, where are you geting the iPod connector fitted. Is this directly to the Tooki Bluetooth. Not sure where you are but can you tell me who's fitting it for you? Thanks Sean 996 but not 40th Anniv model....

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, I'll take a look through the parts catalogue. Any thoughts on the heated rear screen switch? I'll try to get some pictures posted.

POST 5Original post

I would check the fuse and relay first. Far more likely to be one of those.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I gave the switch a very firm press this morning, the orange light came on and the screen seemed to heat up. It all appears to work, just a very stiff switch. All the other switches have a light action. Steve

POST 7Original post

In that case, the switch is part number 996.613.133.10.A05 and they are £27.30 inc VAT.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Are they easy to change? Does the surround unclip to give access, does the sat nav unit need to come out?

POST 9Original post

Pretty easy really. The switches just clip in from the back of the panel. This should help:
