Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The quality of fluid used makes a difference on track as well, with boiling points varying between brands.

I can't imagine you'd need to change the handbrake shoes.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

There was absolutely no difference in brake feel even under hard braking on the track.
Look what we just installed on our
987.2 Base PDK
Cayman
this week...
Paid approx USD 110 inclusive of delivery from the UK to Malaysia, for this -
Brake Hose Kit for Porsche Cayman 987 2.9 03/09-03-13 - Stainless Steel / Complete Kit / Red × 1
My 2011 987.2 generation Cayman sourced from the UK and now resides here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is a happy bunny!
Nice! I just had these put on my Gen 1 (dealer supplied - I haven't actually looked to see what colour they are yet).
I can feel a serious difference under hard braking, but I'm also aware that might just be the fresh fluid/caliper work I had done...
I can imagine it is hard to pin-point what actually provides the improvements one feels, especially with braking - Fresh brake fluid? Caliper work? New braided hoses?
I have to say for normal driving, I don't feel much of a difference so far - No serious braking. Not yet anyway!
What color is yours? I picked red for mine - But there's a whole range of colors from Goodridge's online shop
Perhaps my new brakes are not quite bedded in yet, I do not feel so much of a difference - not even with these new braided hoses.
But I am just grateful the SCREECH from the hand-brake shoes are gone. For now anyway....

. There was absolutely no difference in brake feel even under hard braking on the track. The oem pads are actually steel braided under the rubber coating and do just fine on
Porsche
’s race cars. However, the SS lines do look better. [emoji41]

I can't imagine you'd need to change the handbrake shoes. The only thing they do is hold the car when it's parked, and they basically don't wear doing that. Unless you've been using them to drift or something they should almost never need replacing.
@KL Cayman
- Do you happen to have the part number for those brake lines, and/or, could you share where you purchased them from? I was going to buy the silver ones, but those red ones look sharp. I can't seem to find them anywhere though. Thanks!
Here you go ... Before delivery, it is about USD 100

There are 12 snazzy colors (Colours in the UK!) to choose from too. Good luck!
You will feel it under heavy street braking, especially if it's repeated. Where you'll really love these is on the track. Before I went for SS brake lines on my
987.2
, my pedal travel got longer as the brakes heated. Now, I get
consistent
brake feel and travel all day (assuming race pads and high temp fluid).
Hit the nail on the head. Not with my
987.2
but a long while back on B-roads in KL
Cayman
's neck of the woods, under frequent and hard braking, the brakes really get soft and long. That is partly the brake lines... I think.
A lot of times people will experience a more notable difference if the fluid in the lines previously was older, as brake fluid is hygroscopic and absorbs water over time making it more compressible and spongier. When new lines are put in and the fluid is bled it can enhance the difference. Older lines themselves will also expand slightly over time with age making the difference greater.
The solid lines (which "balloon" less under pressure) will give you a more consistent, linear, and predictable braking effort which is especially useful on the track where precise input is desired. The quality of fluid used makes a difference on track as well, with boiling points varying between brands. If you're going to drive your car hard and greatly raise the temperature of the braking system with repeated stops over a short amount of time, definitely don't overlook getting good fluid - and make sure you're keeping the fluid you have fresh. I flush my brake fluid yearly as I'm that particular about having a crisp braking response but you can go longer than that.
If anyone needs stainless steel lines and high end fluid like
Motul RBF 600
I'm more than happy to provide quotes, just shoot me a message!
