I just had H&R lowering springs and had
cayman
R alignment done on my 2012
cayman
2.9.
the car drives great and looks amazing.
I noticed as I picked up form the shop a small squeaking noise and it’s coming from passenger front.my mechanic pushed on the passenger fender and you can hear the squeaking sound every time you push on the fender.
my car has 35k miles and no other suspension mods and had no noise whatsoever before the install.
I would love some suggestions on what it could be.
my mechanics said to drive it and see if it goes away or maybe it could be that shock.
Did you install the 3mm rubber spacer?
I’ll ask my mechanic, but if it did not come with the springs kit than he did not.
I have no squeaks and I'm also running springs with no other suspension mods, cant help past that because I had my shop install them and based on the fact I didn't get charged for a rubber spacer I dont think I got one either, unless the shop just threw it in?
Not normal
Installation problem
Take it back to installer, won't go anyway with driving
Got you.i guess he should pull that shock back out and look at all the pieces.
I don't think I had this done as well with my
R springs
and B8s. I do get some light creek sounds which seem to come from rear driver side. Then again, my seat also seems to be making more sounds now. They are past 10 years.
Any chance you have the part number for these 3mm spacers? Also, is 3mm default or do they come in different "heights". Much appreciated if you can clue me in as well.
Thanks.
Does yours make the sound if you push on the front fenders
Nope. Its from the right rear suspension I think. Happens only on slightly uneven roads.
Spacer part #'s are on page 248 of 2009 Caymen Parts catalog
3mm - 996 342 511 00
6.5mm - 996 343 511 01
I used 3mm on the front and 6.5mm on the rear.
Thanks for this. Will this be the same for a 2010
987.2
NON-
PASM
?
Just looked up the parts. I reused these old parts when changing to the B8 and
R springs
.
I don't know if this your issue or not but it happened to me and i thought it had to be my bushings, because that's what it sounds like. Then I read this...
On just about every other car I've worked on, there are locking tabs that act as a stop-gap measure to prevent the tie rods from backing out of the steering rack. Surprisingly, the
Boxster
lacks these, so I prefer to apply some
Loctite
or
Permatex
Threadlocker compound to ensure that the tie rods stay in place. Carefully clean out the inside of the steering rack prior to screwing on the tie rods with the Threadlocker applied to the threads.
It was a DIY job and I swear on my life that I broke the tierods away from the hub assembly and tied out of the way and never spun them 1 single time and sure enough they were coming away from the steering rack on both sides.
Thanks for the responses,my shop is going to loosen up the to hats and they said that they will retighten back up in hope of moving it around it will stop making the sound.will see.
