Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

At the same time I replaced the front air conditioning radiators and drier...for these I used generic green I rings of the identical size....I covered all the seals with PAG oil...purchased a tin of the oil and used a tiny amount but thought it worth the cost to ensure that I had taken care to ensure I had completed a proper repair...

The pipe is a bit fiddly to change but with all these things its all the old fittings that cause it to be a big hassle, I've just rustproofed the inside of the sills and in getting off 4 wheel arch liners and 2 spats I have had to cut out 6 screws, 3 studs have snapped and one of the undertrays has cracked.

...when I replaced my leaking air con pipe seal, the typical failure point under the car by drivers rear wheel, I stumped up the £9 quid and purchased from my OPC ...I noted that it was a different colour from the one removed...upgraded perhaps?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Had a leak in my aircon fixed about 18 months ago by a mobile aircon guy, a leak in the low pressure junction was recitified by a new O ring.
It's started leaking again, so to be sure of the size I got it from Porsche, quite expensive compared to ebay generic trays of 100 Orings .
The the parts guy said that it was unique and generic O rings would not fit properly (to which I thought "he would say that wouldn't he")
Having replaced the o ring, the old one is clearly pinched and looks a fraction thicker than the new one.
So is it a unique Porsche size?
In addition I'm wondering if I have fitted it properly as I've put it on the male flange where the old Oring was but should it be fitted into the female flange in some way? Can't see a photo of the joint apart although I'm sure I've seen one in the past somewhere.
Can anyone relieve my paranoia before I pay for the regassing?
The O Ring fits over the male end the same as you removed it , i prefer to put a couple of drops of PAG oil on the seal and then fit it .
You can fit dry as long as you are gentle and line it up or if replacing a condenser some oil / dye will be in the old one , ad rop of that perhaps ..
These days i like things lubricated !
Generic seals .. you pays your money and you takes your chances ..
I've seen .. shall we say one or two leaks over the years from generic seals so at work we always fit Porsche ones .
FYI ..
a/c seals swell up when in contact with Pag oil .. hence once removed they Must be replaced and not reused .
i am in the same situation, i will need to order a new pipe as this one is perforated.i have had a few new o rings, the first was nicked and leaked. the faces of the pipe were corroded and didnt seal very well.
the pipe isn't extortionate, about £130 inc vat. bit of a job to fit

Thanks to Iain (Demort) for his guidance which I followed to the letter.
I have ice cold perfectly functional climate control :thumb:
At the same time I replaced both of the air conditioning radiators resisters to ensure both fans were fully operational...which they are...
Thanks DeMort, that's reassured me, yes all lubed up ohh err.
I did wonder whether the thickness of the old one was the absorbtion since fitting.
Nicky, I couldn't see any other leaks anywhere. The job itself only took me a couple of hours, the fixings more than double that time!
hopefully you are onto a winner, its very common that this joint 'wears' over time, i am a little more unlucky that its going to need replacing. I know what you mean about fixings snapping, it seems that 20yrs on some of the parts are not that kind!
