Not really a modification, rather.... needed maintenance item for
Boxster
's of all vintages really.
I looked into ragg top, 203 and zymol fabric treatments and decided with ragg top.
Step 1 - wash the top
Step 2 - apply the ragg top cleaner to roof
Step 3 - use a very soft brush and work the cleaner into the roof.
Step 4 - rinse
Step 5 - allow to fully dry. (I put the car away for the day and hit it first thing the following day)
Step 6 - MASK! Man, this is time consuming but makes life a breeze when applying the aerosol.
Step 6.5 - I just used painters tape on the back glass, you can use what you like. Apply from top down or vice versa so it all comes off in one section when removed from opposite of start point.
For application, I also bought the Can Gun 1 trigger to make life easier.
The RaggTop product can be bought as a kit or alone
Masking the car takes as long or longer than applying the product.
This protects your paint and makes cleanup a 30sec job. Worth the time for sure!
Now,
When applying the aerosol I sprayed into itself. So the overspray always stays on the roof. Be sure to make nice THIN even coats.
Once its fully coated (approx half a can?) I then gently massaged the sitting liquid into the top. This takes no more than a gentle sweeping motion of a gloved hand across the surface.
Allow a proper 25 to 30min to dry between coats. Time depends on temperature.
I used the entire can, which got me 4 uniformed thin coats.
Unmask the car once the last coat has dried.
And let the roof fully cure for 12hrs.
Note, I highly recommend for the sake of zero product loss to do this in a closed garage environment with the door open for good circulation. Wear appropriate glove and breathing ppe.
I have no affiliation with any products.
Your results may vary.
Voila!
Much better waterproof now, less fuzzy roof also.
Enjoy your hard work with a refreshing beverage of choice.

Ahh..very nice job! I need to look into doing this. Thanks for posting!
Seems unnecessarily complicated (NTTAWWT..)
I simply used some 303 convertible top cleaner, sprayed it on the top and used my hand to rub it in, while I was washing the car, and then rinsed it off. I wasn't especially worried about overspray since it was all getting rinsed off. Added a few minutes to a car wash.
Let it dry overnight. Then found a tiny paint tray (plastic) and a tiny paint roller (about 1"x3") with fuzz. Put some 303 convertible top treatment in the little tray, and using the tiny paint roller, rolled on the treatment. It was very easy to control the amount using the paint roller, and easy to make it uniform. Roll entire top in one direction, then roll entire top in the other direction.
No need for any masking, and was able to cut to within 1/4" of the edge of the top quite consistently. Took about 10 minutes max to treat the top. Saw how effective it was today at a local Porche club outing - where it started raining while all 30 Porsches were lined up on a field. Mine had tiny beading of water on the top - quite uniform. Other tops just got wet and the rain soaked into the fabric.
Cheap, easy. Suits me.
The Best Convertible Top Cleaner and Protectant (Review) in 2020
(303's kit is rated the best..)
I did same procedure on my 2015 Boxster (minus the can gun, I just used my finger) and it looks like a new top. I am impressed with RaggTopp product. Nothing soaks in to the cloth anymore, it just beads up and floats on top.
