Pelican parts
sells catless
headers
by a brand called Racing Dynamics for around $599. These look to be a good bang for buck. I would be keeping the stock
exhaust
. Any thoughts on these?

There are cheaper versions out there(ebay). Not a long tube header so won’t be as effective. I’m sure they’ll sound decent.

I saw topspeed sells short tube catless
headers
for around $350..would I still get a slight performance/sound increase if mating these to the stock
exhaust
? Recently discovered I have an IPD and was just looking to add a little pep. This is going on a 150k miles 06' CS so not worth it to me to go all out on cost.

I have short tube
headers
on my CS, mated with a
Borla exhaust
, and custom
Softronic
flash. It removed all the cats and sounds great. I had mine ceramic coated to reduce heat. As for Racing Dynamics, I was involved with the founding of the company in the early ‘80’s. It was founded by as a major
BMW
tuner similar to Dinan by Italian friend of mine while we were setting up MOMO USA - the Italian steering wheel company. I cannot speak to their quality today, but would be surprised if they were in the same bucket as ebay sellers. Here are links to their US and

I have the Top Speed decat
headers
and can say I have been very happy with them....good quality, fit was perfect. Are they as good as the
Soul
pieces, most likely not the fabrication on those is top notch, fully purged, etc...
Thanks for the input. Did you bolt them up to the stock
exhaust
? How did you avoid a check engine light?

I had difficulty getting TopSpeed to respond to me. I finally called him, he told me to call back in a couple of weeks to place an order. This was in Sept of last year. I went with
Soul
long tube catless race
headers
and a
Softronic
flash. John at
Soul
and Scott at Softronics matched up on a conference call with me to figure out exactly the specifications on the remap of my
ECU
that Scott put together. Seems, that Scott actually knew about my car's VIN # from 11 years ago, when he initially set up the car in Florida with his Race Plenum kit and old flash. Now, Scott's Softronics customized file has enhanced maps including, matching the Vario cam Plus, retuning the resonance valve, smoother ignition advance (taking full advantage of 93 octane fuel), better fuel delivery (set to 93 octane) to match the long tube
headers
, and the EVOMS induction box. This overall flash /
Soul headers
upgrade provides a flat torque all the way to redline. No soft spots or mid range fall off with Scott's flash and
Soul
's long tube
headers
. I can even idle in 1st gear in stop and go traffic without the engine bucking at 5 mph, meaning the flash is very smooth, yet powerful.
The
Soul headers
seemed to be a thicker tube stock than the Top Speed
headers
as they weight more. I think that additional tube thickness gives a better sound and hopefully prevents header cracking at the welds. The
Soul
product is a work of art and the technician/mechanic at Cantrell MotorSports told me, I had the best sounding 3.4 engine he has heard, when he check drove my car. The motor sounds come from a combo of
Soul headers
, Milltek
exhaust
, and EVOMS intake.
Scott's flash also turns off the cat probe responses to the
ECU
, so no check engine light.
Soul headers
for the win. Their craftsmanship is excellent and they perform really well on our dyno. They do cost more but they work better and have a lifetime warranty for street AND track use.
Feel free to message me for a quote with shipping or packaged up with other parts.

I have over 5k miles on top gear UK long tubes and love them.. Cheap and built very well.. They have the same mounting flange as
Soul
(or at least it looks very similiar)
My thoughts are that the thin tube strength and weld depth of the Top Gear
headers
maybe of issue as the
headers
take a lot of vibration pressure from the motor and the muffler system. We have no flex pipe in our systems between the header and the muffler. Just watching a standing start yesterday with wheel hop transmitting that vibration throughout the system, putting pressure on the header flange/gaskets and the pipe welds. I have a reinforced motor mount insert (FF)and transmission mounts (FF). Maybe a triangle gasket that has some give and spring loaded bolts between the
headers
and the
exhaust
pipe to the muffler would benefit here.
Don't know what these other
headers
look like but the Racing Dynamics are much better looking that stock
headers
.
NHP
headers
also look similar to the
Soul
Long Tube Race
headers
, but the welds are not the same, especially at the
O2 sensor
fittings. Please see the Hyrex's
exhaust
failure at the track a couple of months ago.
