I also found that it was happy relating to an object directly behind the car,if you reversed into a space at an angle then it would be silent way before you expected it to be.So I ended up using my usual level of observation in parking anyhow.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

If you cant park a car without a radar then it's pretty poor really isn't it. I can maybe see the point on a merc s class or a maybach, but an iccle porsche. Behave. Get a sports exhaust for the money instead and don't be such a girls blouse.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I can park! but is it any good? does any one have it fitted

POST 3Original post

You'll be hankering after an electrically operated cup holder next, or how about a heated botty massager. You boxter boys seem to reguarly spec 10k worth of crap on your cars.

POST 5Original post

I had the loan of a 996 demo car earlier in the year that was fitted with the park assist thingy... before I ordered my car I knew this was something i was never going to add to my specification, but found it to be less effective than I thought,,You get a serious of beeps that sound and the closer you get to an object, just before you are going to make contact it becomes a continuous tone...I was parking and getting this continuous tone for about 2.1/2 feet away from a wall or parked car,so was reversing another 1 foot or so to get into the space... I also found that it was happy relating to an object directly behind the car,if you reversed into a space at an angle then it would be silent way before you expected it to be.So I ended up using my usual level of observation in parking anyhow. One other thing I do not like with it is the wart like sensors that are stuck on the rear bumper,it is a detail that attracts your attention rather than looking at the lines of the car. I get the feeling Porsche offer this extra as the Merc crowd who were getting tired with the old SL couldn't entertain a Porsche without such neccesaties they had become accustomed to. I wouldn't and didn't get this extra, but if you are getting a Boxster and it helps to get the price towards £50k I woild think it is an absolute must have accesory.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

YOU TRY ORDERING A BOXSTER STANDARD SPEC ever one says you need 1,wind deflector 2 part leather 3,A/C 4,Bigger wheels 17s or 18s add £500 speaker upgrade ie more than 2 speakers these are just for starters and cost£4000 ish along with tiptronic as I have a dodgy left knee Thats nearly £6000 on extras

POST 7Original post

Sounds like you will be getting the Boxster S,which comes with most of the things listed as extras for not much more money...

POST 8Original post

I'd rather have a big hike in power for my 6k extra than traffic jam toys. Mind you, I'd also rather have a 911 for 40k ish than a boxter.

POST 10Original post

off, Roadrunner. I reckon the 'S' is the one to get too, myself. But I would, wouldn't I. And besides (presses tongue into cheek) who'd buy a car with the engine in the wrong place...it should be in the middle, everyone knows that. (removes tongue).

POST 11Original post

Oh..and the answer to the question is... NO! Although the shape of the car does tend to fool you into think the back is closer to you than it is and the front is further away. You'll find yourself puttin the front skirt over the kerb and the rear miles away from the bollard at first. All you need to do is get a mate to stand at either end of the car and take a good look from the the driver's seat. Once you can remember where the corners of the car are...its no trouble. Parking sensors...waste of time.

POST 12Original post

Er, snd they look cack as well. Looks like your bumpers are breaking out. I'll admit, the rear 3/4 vision isn't perfect (is it better through the new window, Don ?), but you get used to it. And heck, given you can go topless in 16 seconds, why not drop the roof ?

POST 13Original post

I've had fun winding you boxter boys up. Go for whatever spec you like mate. Have you seen the Ruf 3600 (boxter)? They drop the 911 320bhp unit in there - not bad! Bit of a premium though, think it's around 55k.

POST 14Original post

I've got the reverse sensors fitted on a 911. I find them very useful. Initially I got used to having them on an S-class Merc that I sometimes borrow, since then I've taken the approach if you can get them go for it. I calculated the cost of the option was roughly on a par with respraying the rear bumper having got it wrong! DAZ

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think the £££s will be spent on something else or that girls blouse

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ARE THE SENSORS ANY GOOD WHEN REVERSIN OR ARE THEY JUST A GIMMICK ON THE ODD OCCASION WHEN YOU HAVE THE ROOF UP WHATS VISABILITY LIKE EVEN WITH A GLASS WINDOW
