Well I am still stuck with an 04 GT3 that I can't use or get to a garage I've tried wd I've put on a new end of barrel electrical connector but the steering lock is still on no matter how much I try!

Not used my 996.2 GT3 for ages the key was always a bit stiff but this week the steering lock is on and I cannot get the key to turn no matter how much moving the steering wheel I try and my spare key is the same. First I tried break cleaner in the barrel but no good. I researched the problem and got a new Audi part for the back of the barrel. It was the correct part exactly the same as mine I think it is the 04 onwards part, Ignition Switch VW-Audi 4B0 905 849 a pig of a job but once fitted still nothing it will not turn is it a new key and barrel?[/img]

It sounds like its a fault with the barrel .. Get a spray lubricant like wd40 .. spray plenty into the barrel .. work the key in and out many times then try to turn the key but at the same time rock the steering wheel from side to side . will it turn at all ? If nothing and no amount of wiggling will get it to move then i guess a locksmith might be able to help . As you have nothing to loose here .. perhaps remove the fob and get a pair of pliers on the key shank .. in / out and side to side .. you really don't have many options atm im afraid Can i just confirm the car is NOT a tiptronic as that is a seperate fault .
