Although they don't have a dedicated Porsche page they seem to know what they are doing, I used their Becker page for my Becker radio and the code was shown on screen a few seconds after purchase, as well as emailed to me.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looked through the forum but unable to find how I can find the radio code to write down before I remove my battery for some work. '05 C4S. Purchased the car this fall and looked through all of the docs the seller provided and it's not written down. Any idea how I can find it?

POST 2Original post

Sometimes they wrote the code on the options sticker on the hood. Good luck.

POST 3Original post

What model radio is it? I believe the CDR 23 from the last few years of 996 production dont have a code and are just paired to the cars computer. In which case you dont need a code when disconnecting the battery.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

First place I looked was on the sticker. My 986 Boxster had it written there, nothing written on this 996 sticker. It is a CDR23. So sounds like no code needed. Phew! Thanks much!

Yup thats what I have in my 03. Confirmed with Becker Audio that no code needed!

POST 6Original post

^+1 I've replaced many batteries in my '03 996 and '05 GT3, with no need to enter radio codes afterwards. That being said, I rarely listen to their radios - in the GT3 I can't hear it while driving, which is ok; if I wanted great audio I'd drive a boringazzz car.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As someone pointed out, the CDR23 radio in my '05 C4S doesn't require a code entry. Apparently does some synch up with the computer when power restored. Worked ok after re-attaching the battery. Disconnected it to replace broken headlight and ignition switches. The headlight switches in these cars do not seem to last 35k miles! Same failed in my 986 also.

POST 8Original post

Type: 4462 CDP2081 Ser: X5028409 I gave this and the VIN to my local dealership. They never called back. Im the 3rd owner. No book, and nothing under either trunk lid. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

I believe there is a thread on Rentec. There is also a service on ebay, its like 20 bucks and they will look up the code if its a becker radio. I believe the user is becker auto sound.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 18986818

My local dealer would not give me the radio code over the phone as they could not verify who I was. Took my car down with the regi paperwork, flashed my drivers licence, and in 2 minutes the guy at the parts counter gave me the code. This only works if the radio in your car is still the original installed from the factory. If it has been changed some time in the past then you will have to go a different (third-party) route.

Okay thank you. I will check there. Someone else said to come here.

POST 12Original post

I have a CDR23 radio that is not the original. It requires PROTECT to activate.. How do I do this?

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 19055414

Pretty sure you will have to have a dealer or independent with PIWIS to pair/code your car electronics to the non-original CDR23. -Tom

Go to dealer with papers showing it was not stolen. They can look up the code. Their could be more than one code.

Go ask Loren on RennTech. He knows the formula for getting the right code for these units.

Hi, did you manage to find your code? Would rather not have to book in for the dealership or wait hours on a phone just for this

POST 19Original post

Update for anyone else coming across through Google, I didn't want to risk buying from the earlier site as I couldn't find any independent reviews for it and didn't want to wait on eBay sellers. In the end after some searching I managed to find mine for 5 (6 USD Google tells me) from a UK company with a lot of positive TrustPilot reviews. Although they don't have a dedicated Porsche page they seem to know what they are doing, I used their Becker page for my Becker radio and the code was shown on screen a few seconds after purchase, as well as emailed to me. This is their Becker page https://www.rapidradiocodes.co.uk/manufacturers/becker

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
