You were the one suggesting that this person talk to Neil because he has just installed a B&B system for a site member.

Yes Neil said this exhaust system was the most difficult to install of any that he has installed on a Cayman I DO suggest you talk to him about it.

Please show the thread where Neil said it was the most diffcult to install as my search could not find that thread...

Suggestion
So if I understand you correctly you and your friend who owns a shop bought 3 different exhaust systems - B&B, AWE, and FABSPEED for the sum of oh around $5-6K and then installed each and tested each and you liked B&B best?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was on BB's website looking at their exhaust/header combo. They have a catback setup with cats in it, and a set of headers without.
Now, I assume that using that system is fine, as you only need one set of cats, but does anyone know if the sensor will reach the fittings on the back of the cats if they're way back near the mufflers rather than the headers.
Is there some other problem with this setup I'm missing?
Ahhh, I read the bit about the guy getting the BBs, but wasnt sure he got the headers with no cats. I also missed the any mention of the sensor working on the 'farther' cat (unless there wasn't one). Either way - Thanks!
I've installed the AWE, Fabspeed and the BB system.. From personal experience I feel it was the best fit and finish... The install was 2 hours from start to finish and the tips lined up perfectly...
Please show the thread where Neil said it was the most diffcult to install as my search could not find that thread... I definately get the impression here if they are NOT a sponsor then it's OK for the site admin to slam them...
Bull_30, I didn't realize you had actually installed it. Can you confirm that the sensors have enough wire to reach the cats at the back of the exhaust, as opposed to on the header...
I can confirm header & exhaust w/ 100 cell cats
They will reach & the install was about 2 hours w/ very good results on the dyno.
No affiliation w/ B&B just satisfied customer w/ more tuning to do w/ the Revo software.
Bull_30,
You have not personally installed all 3 of those systems so check your facts at the door. I spoke to Neil over the phone. Perhaps you are implying that Neil doesn't know what he is doing? Why is it that everyone who installs the AWE system talks about what a great fit it is, yet 2 installs that I know of with B&B have had problems getting the straps - yes straps - that have to go around a muffler to line up properly.
You seem to keep wanting to push the B&B system here so much so that I'm wondering if you are not secretly getting kickbacks from them for every time you mention their name here? I definitely get the "impression" that you like to slam anyone who isn't giving you a kickback, but hey maybe that's just my "impression".
The site admin and moderators don't "slam" non-sponsors, quite the contrary we try to find out as much about them as possible since they don't share information like sponsors do. When we find information, good or bad, we bring it to light. You were the one suggesting that this person talk to Neil because he has just installed a B&B system for a site member. I was AGREEING with your statement but not for the reason you thought I was. I was agreeing because Neil will tell him straight up that the B&B is more difficult to install.
No one exhaust system is perfect but as much as you keep "advertising" for B&B can you tell us what your comission rate is?
If you are talking about relocating O2 sensors from the manifolds/headers further back, say near the muffler where the 2nd set of cats are on a stock system then NO the wires from the factory will not reach as originally mounted. You can re-route and stretch them and depending upon the tap in point of the bung for the 02 sensor potentially get them to reach, and you can also have wires melting as they move around under load in a pathway they weren't designed to be in. The "right" way to do it is to splice the wires and solder extensions or create whole new extensions, which a good shop can do for you.
With headers with 02 sensor bungs available though I'm not sure why you want to go to the trouble of trying to relocate them?
(BTW as an easy sanity check in the Milltek exhaust article you can see the wires hanging down loose from the O2 sensors still in the original exhaust manifolds, look at those and see if you think they will stretch clear back by the 2nd cats/muffler.
no apology owed, your prior messages have said that you have a friend who owns a shop and that he has installed them and that you have observed. So if you are now the mechanic and you own the shop then you should go back and correct prior messages that imply otherwise.
I DIDN'T OBSERVE.. I HELPED and I drove them when they were done... So I was able to make an informed decision at least on 3 systems anyway... I'm happy, I made the right decision for me...
Enough said... I'll wait for the apology that will NEVER be forthcoming...
So if I understand you correctly you and your friend who owns a shop bought 3 different exhaust systems - B&B, AWE, and FABSPEED for the sum of oh around $5-6K and then installed each and tested each and you liked B&B best? Did you guys just returned the AWE and FABSPEED systems after being installed or are they laying on the shop floor somewhere? Since you have first hand knowledge of installing the B&B system can I ask why you didn't take photos of the install and create an article here to share with other members on the tips and tricks for installing? I mean if Neil and others have had problems getting the straps to align on the B&B exhaust maybe if you had done an article and shared your wisdom then others could have benefitted?
BTW, in case you are interested I helped Kevin Buckler win LeMans in 2002 and I have the photos.
you know... since the sound is so subjective, and it's always best to hear them first hand... it would be cool if someone (who's not as lazy as me) had some sort of registry by city or major area of installed exhausts. Or perhaps simpler and better... A meet. Some Sunday in Houston, everyone with an aftermarket exhaust meet somewhere.
I will be glad to participate in a meet on some sunday in Houston. i have ordered my AWE exhaust but like many am waiting for it to come in. I also will have the BM short shift installed by then and possibly the techart side skirts although i am still not sure I am going to keep those.
???
Is it my imagination, or have all of Bull_30's posts disappeared from this thread? Some of the remaining posts don't make much sense without his posts (those posts were apparently in response to something he wrote).
what happen to Bull_30 is very dissappointing. i understand he kicked up a lot of dirt but he should not have been erased from history...very dissappointing.
well...back the the thread subject at hand...i have Tubi and Milltek headers. both fit great and no issues.
So when is the get together in Houston to occur. As I would also like to do a sound comparison prior to spending the $1500 to $2000 (seems to be the going rate). One more question that has been posed but I have never seen the answer to is how does the sniff test compare before and after.
Yeah...just noticed that when I was reading through this thread?
Thank God...I thought I was going mad:crazy:when I couldn't put 2 responses together correctly. Phew!
silent will,
believe it or not, there is really no place in austin tx that will do dyno. there is colvin automotive that was recommended to me by local pca, but when i called them...they were not too thrilled with that type of business. they said there computer was down or some software issue excuse...so i didn't bother.
i guess i will have to wait till i drive to houston for giac or dallas for revo to dyno the whole setup after the fact. my feeling is that since we already have numerous before dyno from ken and red rocket...an after from me will satisfy others curiosity.
i currently have evo intake, milltek headers, and tubi catback.
Teamsketch,
i bought my Tubi from Boardwalk Porsche in Plano TX. they are one of the few dealers that will sale and install aftermarket performance parts and warrant their labor. they are excellent folks...

I think it all depends on what you are looking for guys! Some of us want a "Loud" racing sound while others want a "quite" sound. Who cares if someone is set on BB or AWE? isn't that what makes America so great!!!
I have heard three sets of Fabspeed / AWE set-ups and it is WAY to quite for my needs, I love the sound of fabspeed / TUBI !!! AND THEN TO TOP IT OFF... I'M HAVING A CUSTOM EXHAUST SYS. BUILT BY GMG. I will post Pic's when complete
