This is not a probability of success.

Agreed. That carbuncle in the oddments tray is horrific, as is the GPS antenna and microphone (which I would expect to be hidden in the dash behind to microphone grill for that sort of money....) and the price is outrageous.
Don't see what this brings to the table that a decent phone holder and a single din Bluetooth head unit doesn't already offer.
Absolutely. You have written EXACTLY what I was thinking. It's also out of proportion, the screen looks wrong, too big. It looks like trying to make your car look modern when it's an older classic. Just wrong imo.
I get what you're saying, but calling a 996 an "older classic" is a bit of a niche opinion. Lots of us use our 996s every day and a decently modern head unit, with phone integration, sat nav, spotify etc. makes long journeys much more enjoyable.
It's one of the great things about a 996 - they're cheap and plentiful, so we don't get the beards complaining about non-matching numbers and unoriginal parts. A practical car I can drive every day is worth way more to me than trying to make it into a museum piece.
Mine is a daily driver. I'm hardly classing the 996 as a museum piece. It's just an opinion mate. I just think it does not suit the era looks wise but understand some people want function over form. Be a dull world and all that. :thumb:
I don't think it can look any more out of proportion than the PCM 1 and I think this is by far the best option for these cars.
It looks better than anything aftermarket and the OEM PCM's for these cars. The single dins I think give the best look but then again they are old with no DAB, no Navigation, no MP3 playback or phone connectivity and ultimately you are compromising. I understand why someone with a garage queen might not want to pony up the cash but any of us who regularly drive their 996 or go on long trips with it will greatly benefit from navigation without relying on very out of date maps or sticking an ugly phone holder or tom tom in the window, not to mention the directions are displayed on the instrument cluster just like the PCM 2.0 did and enjoy all the other options.
Plus the price isn't really that bad when you consider the latests PCM's with pretty much the same functions is a £4k option in the new cars and you get that for under £1.5k.
