Hi everyone,
Had the AWE exahust installed and it is superb. Sound is not so different from OEM when cruising, a bit deeper, but the sound is incredibly rich and deep on acceleration. The sound clips provided by AWE and others here will give you an idea of what it is about, but they really don't do justice to it - it is that good.
I was chatting with two guys while it was being installed, both of whom heard the car when it arrived, and heard it after the installation. Big, big smiles on their faces! It is loudest between 2200 and 2800 rpm on medium to hard acceleration, quieter before and after that. My wife is sensitive to noise, and I was a bit worried that it might be too much for her, I was surprised to hear her say "I really like it - is it louder than it was"? Seems to pull stronger, particularly at lower RPM.
The only problem, it makes the car even more addictive. I have been driving it only once a week, but I think those days are gone!
Happy New Year to everyone,
Lee
Is your system just cat-back or did you install
headers
too? Do you have any plans to de-snork, change the air intake, or chip it? I am thinking about it and just wondered what your thoughts were.
Thanks
Just catback, no
headers
. I was on the fence about other mods, but after getting the
exhaust
system and seeing how much fun that is, I do plan on chipping and installing the air intake mod. The installation for the
exhaust
was reasonable, around $190.
Congratulation on joining the AWE club!
Enjoy
Sounds like yet another wonderfully happy customer...now I'm really tempted to get the AWE
exhaust
too...
I have added a short sound bite in the files section ... mp3
Responding to go4it's question regarding pictures, I believe that there are some already posted of the AWE system on the site, but if there is an interest in more I can post, just let me know.
Post more pics please! Can't have enough!
I wanted to let the gang know tha I had my AWE cat-back installed on Tuesday and it sounds great! A bit 'crisper' at idle and low RPM cruising, but what a beautiful melody when you stomp on the loud pedal!
Kudos to AWE on the fit! My speed shop told me the install was very easy and all the parts matched perfectly (cost me about $160 for the install).
I will get under the car and photograph it tomorrow.
Happy New Year to everyone!
racerboy
now i want awe too..
how much is awe installed gonna cost me.. just the catback.
This thread cracks me up... Why not a I Love Milltek, or I Love Bumper Plugs... Why must everyone feel it necessary to defend AWE???
I must say I do like Milltek's advertising on their site:
Real documented power gains.
The only system that sounds good at all RPM ranges, no drone or buzz.
Dual outlet pipes and tips. No single power-robbing merge like OEM.
No "bread box" mufflers, just pure Porsche aesthetic.
304 Stainless outside and inside the system.
Header/cats use genuine 200-cell HJS metal cats. Same quality as our 911 Turbo exhaust.
Check out that muffler fit. Higher up in the car than factory. The perfect look.
Lifetime Milltek Sport warranty.
I definately get the feeling they're knocking AWE... If I'm not mistaken, isn't Stramosphere a sponsor too? That's funny, the items in red are the same concerns that I expressed on this site only to get berated... It seems that all the animals on the farm are equal, just some are more equal than others...
My feelings about the AWE are well known... I don't like the looks... I didn't like the high RPM sound... I believe the sound degradation is due to pushing all that exhaust through a single outlet pipe... You can give all the scientific mumbo-jumbo you want... I know I angered the site Gods at one point because I refered to the AWE system as "Mini Trash Cans"... I will in the future refer to them as "Bread Boxes"...
Lee-
Thanks for your business. We are pleased that you like it.
Happy New Year.
Cost me about $160 for the install.
