Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

996 turbo headlight. Had to purchase a used one and the wiring is shot. All the protective coating is crumbling. What I cant figure out is how to the main wiring harness connector (white) out of the headlight. It had a purple slider which I removed which I thought might free it loose. Nothing happened. This might have just been a retainer for the wires. Any help is appreciated. I have my old light I can transfer the new wiring from. The connector plugs is on the back of the the headlight assembly and slides into the receiving plug in the car

POST 2Original post

You're right, the purple part is to lock the individual terminals inside the white plug and does not come into play for removing the whole plug from the headlight. Can't give you a definitive answer but there should be a tab, maybe two that need lifting or pinching to get the white plug out. Maybe even from 'behind', i.e. from the side of the black headlight housing. HTH

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks members, I am still at a stand still, It seems that you have to push four tabs in and the white connector will push through. The difficulty is how to push all four at the same time. If I break the tabs it will come out but I have to reuse this in the new housing. Hence the problem. The site provided adriantalights is good if you have to replace the harness and not have a replacement handy. Still looking for some advice.

What about a few of those thin, flat, metal radio removal tools?
