Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. A friend has just fitted a Design 911 switchable system(which is just the boxes) so that he can try and quietly leave home on a Sunday morning early run, & then press a remote button to make it noisier when he's on the open roads....it does make a deeper sound when open with some nice burbling noises.

They came fitted when I purchased the car and they appear to be very well made.

Looking for some advice, I'm thinking about changing the back boxes on 2001 3.4, 996 and was wondering have any any of you had any experiences with brands also any pros and cons with the silencers you've bought.

And while they sound good as Alex above has said they aren't the best quality at all and I've had to replace flexi joints on both sides
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I went for TopGear Mild Sports as below
https://www.topgear.co.uk/by-manufacturers/porsche/porsche-911-996-carrera-mild-sports-silencers
There is often a group discount via 911uk (look for a post).
No complaints whatsoever. Superb value. You may want to buy stainless fittings as they come with mild steel ones.
I have the Fabspeed backboxes fitted and find they have a slight drone at around 2000rpm but it's very limited in the rev range.
They came fitted when I purchased the car and they appear to be very well made.
I fitted Top Gear mild sports in January. They fit extremely well and the sound is very modest with no drone. Indeed I would like them a bit louder and will be fitting some CATS at some point.
I've Topgear 'sports" boxes and a 200 cell xpipe on my 911 which IMO gives a more GT3 noise as you wind it up. I'd listen to a few different types of system but I can't fault the price or quality of the TG exhausts I've got - there is a normal 10% discount available to forum members & you just have to ask TG for a code.
Mine came with Miltek stainless silencers. They sound great.
There's a good Youtube video of someone out for a spin in a 996 with them fitted. Turn it up.

i bought a spyder switchable exhaust, and regret it. Year and a bit and rusty as hell. Never got a pip of a reply from them, either. Should've bought a Milltek, had one on my cayman and it was amazing. You get what you pay for...
I've got the Dansk super sounds on mine
And while they sound good as Alex above has said they aren't the best quality at all and I've had to replace flexi joints on both sides
Miltek's here as well and the video sounds good but the real things sound even better. Like a 1960's 6 cylinder at low revs with a real scream at the top end, and yet very civilised on light throttle.
Miltek here also - I was going to go for the Tubi sport system (very loud) but the Miltek sounds similar and is a bit cheaper. Listened to quite a few videos of the topgear system and they sounded a bit boomy to my ears, though I've not heard one in person.
