Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'aircon' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'aircon' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check they are all tight as well' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Reported cause
Had a whining noise in my C2 that turned out to be low charge on the air conditioning caused by a leak at the join under the sill in front of the rear wheel.

The air conditioning engineer I took it to to get drained and re-filled said that the expansion valve makes a whining noise when the charge is low.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

As per the title when the car is warmed up it emits a whining noise from somewhere in the transmission when I lift off the the throttle and also press very lightly on the throttle (basically when there is little to no engine load) as soon as I apply load to the transmission the noise goes.
Have done some googling but struggled to find a similar problem on the forums, anyone have a clue??
How do you know its from somewhere in the transmission?
Does it do it in all gears and also in neutral?
When was the last gearbox oil change?
When was the last front diff. oil changed?
Mine would whine when coasting and it turned out to be one of the bearings in the front diff. Cost about 400EUR to replace, including the bearing, seals, fluid and new plugs.

Mine sounded like it was coming from the rear of the car.
Easy check to determine if that is the problem is to turn off the aircon and see if the noise goes away.
Well it was the aircon!!
Thanks for all the suggestions!
There has been a lot of aircon parts replaced in recent years so will have to get an aircon specialist to do a leak down test and see what it shows.
It's strange as the aircon works perfectly! ....Just noisy!
:floor:
It isn't just me then
I posted the same on the american porsche forum for someone who had similar symptoms and got shot down by lots of red necks saying it couldn't be the aircon.
The engineer I went to said it only has to be a little low to make the noise, I also had a slight leak around the connections to the evap canister in front of the windscreen. Might be worth check they are all tight as well.
As you say get the system drained and then tested for leaks and you should be fine.
When I heard mine I'd only had the car a few days and thought that the engine was about to go bang
