However, make sure you have the correct OEM recommended tire sizes wrapped around those wheels, because a lot of these newer cars have wheel speed sensors that pick up data.

Suggestion

I am not familiar with turbos but on standard 996's it is generally acceptable to use spacers that range from 7mm to 15mm .

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 2002 996TT came with aftermarket 19" wheels. I've purchased a set of 18" Porsche Turbo Twist wheels to bring the car back to "stock". Are there any other things that need to be done with the wheel size change? Does the speedometer/odometer need to be re-calibrated? Are wheel spacers a good option for a street-driven car? Any advice would be appreciated.

POST 2Original post

You are going back to stock wheels/tires so no calibration needed . Once you get the new setup installed you can determine if there is too much space between the tires and the fender lips . At that point you can think about spacers . I am not familiar with turbos but on standard 996's it is generally acceptable to use spacers that range from 7mm to 15mm . You also have to go with longer wheel bolts and/or add wheel studs .

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the response. Sounds like it will be very straightforward.

POST 5Original post

Like others have indicated, you should be good to go if you're going back to OEM. However, make sure you have the correct OEM recommended tire sizes wrapped around those wheels, because a lot of these newer cars have wheel speed sensors that pick up data. The last thing you need is your transmission acting up because the sensors have picked up false data.
