I installed the sump extension with windage tray on my CS last month, and haven't had any problems.

I'm sure Porsche will not replace a second set so I'd love to have the oil separator solution!

It will also give you a little more power as we are using less energy to turn the accessories.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After some time off from PCA Club racing, We have been able to design and produce these items. all will ready for shiping next week. The underpulley slows things down by 20%, saving the overworked power steering pump. Several overheated failures have occured, also steering becomes slightly heavier, more feel. Windage tray helps reduce oil sloshing around, in the wet sump. Call stan@[phone removed] or email

stan and eanie, in case you are wondering, i am "whitedot88" or john.... ;-)
yes, get me the pulley asap.
please elaborate on what the new windage tray is like. pix?
my mechanic talked to one of you and mantis suggested that we use X51 sump pan with your extension.
Ernie,
I'm also curious about the new windage tray design and whether or not it will prevent the ingestion of oil into the intake side of the engine resulting in a cloud of smoke out the exhaust pipe. I know several of us have stumbled upon this "feature" of the Cayman's engine.
Mantissport has been running a different oil seperator since Limerock. Its been working , no smoke at all, exhaust pipes colour is a brown/grey (no oil). Now we are going to release these once we make them street car friendly as right now it takes up abit room were the exhaust/mufflers are. Another few weeks, I am busy building Spec-1 cars (944), getting cayman ready for sebring(faster), 2 996 racers, couple of engine builds. Now we use the oil cooler pump to return oil dumped into the breather system back to the sump. Stay tuned.

Let me be second or third in line for this modification! I had a serious case of the dreaded "oil farts" at Sebring this weekend.
Keep us posted! There's a few of us with our checkbooks in hand waiting for guys like you to come up with the solutions!
Ernie,

Yes, the oil separator would be great! I believe the oil ingestion is what is killing some of our cats. I'm sure Porsche will not replace a second set so I'd love to have the oil separator solution!
+1 for a group buy
Add me to the list for the underdrive pulley, and I could use more info on the mods you suggest to keep from ruining my toy on the track. I spoke to my mechanic today and he strongly approved of reducing the speed of the ps pump!

Yup, it's been ready for about a month. I installed the sump extension with windage tray on my CS last month, and haven't had any problems.
There was one minor installation issue, though (which Stan now knows about, and should be updating the instructions to match). To install the windage tray, you need to trim the bottom of the stock baffle, so the baffle can mount flat to the tray. However, you
also
need to trim a small section on the front of the baffle to clear the lowered oil pickup base -- that wasn't mentioned in the instructions I had.
So, boys and girls, the lesson here is to make sure to try fitting the baffle into place after installing the oil pickup extension, but
before
mounting the baffle to the tray or putting sealant on the tray for installation (ask me how I learned this...
).
One other step that isn't in the instructions: remove the rear plastic undertray before starting the install. It will get in the way, and I also had to trim the two airflow channels a little to clear the lowered sump (easier to do off the car).
Hi GUYS;
Sorry for the delay in responding, we are busy building / preparing 5 cars destined for Sebring in early February.
The Sump Extension with Windage Tray is now available, we have had several installations now and, as Bill indicated previously in this thread, have the bugs worked out and are ready to ship.
We also have the Under-Drive Pulley in stock now, this will reduce the speed, and there-fore the temperature of the power steering pump. It will also give you a little more power as we are using less energy to turn the accessories. It works with the standard belt. You will need a different tool to tension the belt, we have made these and can provide them with the pulley.
Please email or call me for further information.
