I just picked my car up from Neil Orton.
Mods completed:
-BB Headers and exhaust
-New pedals
-H&R lowering springs
-Reflash by Orton
The exhaust sounds strong and very powerful. Perhaps a bit loud for some but no drone.
The main difference is in the reflash. I own a Triumph 955 Daytona. The reason I chose that sport bike is that it was a three cylinder. It makes power at low RPM'S and also delivers power to 11,000 and makes it a true superbike. Basically I have two bikes in one.
In my CS I ordered sport chrono. It is the most important option in my opinion. The stock set up is great because you can use it to save fuel on an interstate run.
Now however after Orton reflashed the car, it is radically different. In normal mode the car acts tame and walks through traffic like a Lexus, and is quieter. In sport mode I got Dr Jeckel on steriods! The cars rips the tires out from under it and rockets forward. I never imagined that the few inexpensive mods that I made would do this. I am now truly obsessed with the car,(passione amore).
Thanks again, Neil
Team526, I moved this to Cayman Modifications where there should be lots of interest.
Cayman mods
Dear Sate Fe, could you make a few suggs. regarding my Cayman that might tweek up the perfomance and stlill not break the bank or warranty. I live in south Fl. and use Porsche of Mel. as my dealer . I don't really want to go to some Yahoo in Miami that will screw up my car practicing. Any advice would be much appreciated. It's a daily driver with 208 miles on her. Please advise. Thanks. Hartman.
Hartman, I'm not the mod guy but if you search around the modification posts you will find a bunch of options. My suggestion is to really think about why and what you will do with more performance and then act accordingly. There are some tried and true approaches and some that are suspect but the advice here is all good.
What happens when you do that flash and dont have sport mode?is it always on the radical side?
If you do not have the sport chrono you have the radical mode constantly. If I had my choice I would do it anyway.
If you don't have S/C I can map the ECU so the throttle is as agressive as sport chrono or the same as stock or any where in between.
Neil
i looked at your website and am very interested in the r-320 package is there a cat back system that goes with that.Does that add more power? also i saw cat-less headers, what do you do about the post cat O2 sensors? does that make even more power. Can you get better than 300 HP to the ground with just intake exhaust and ecu mods?Do i bring you my car (Im in Orlando) or can you ship the parts for me to install. Is the ECU a download or a new box?You can email me directly @

Neil - perhaps UTICaymanS's questions have been answered elsewhere on this site, but in my quest to understand the best way to do these mods, I would love to hear your answers! Thanks!

Redeye.
It all depends on what you want to achieve. High HP does not guarantee you would be quicker than a car with less HP. Torque is also very important and where the torque & power comes in i.e. a member of this board has a Cayman S with a 3.8 engine that I did 6 months ago and the power out put is around 375FWHP, with a full exhaust/filter/ECU etc fellow board members are only about 10hp short of this, yet they would not be in the same league as this car.
One of the first things you should consider is the goal you want to achieve.

What mods would you suggest to improve the lower end torque (between 2000 and 4600rpm) of the 2.7? Can this be achieved by a flash only?
Thanks
I would first start with a ECU flash and then go with headers.
Neil
And we have a set of headers available in the Classifieds right now up for auction, get the Orton-Flash CC-Header combo and you can't go wrong!
Did Porshe not give the engine headers? Maybe I should just get a car first, K-Man!
