These are areas the normal 'track' package doesn't cover, and you only get with a full coverage, so in essence I had Track+ fitted (somewhere in-between track and full).

It's not wrapped, it's edged, and there are lots of examples on the 992 forum of poorly applied PPF which the OPC has had to get replaced on arrival.

Before I had my PPF done I was advised by a few on here that the trailing edges on the rear bumper get battered, so as detailed in this thread I had a custom application fitted to protect those areas, and also a couple of areas the fitter recommended (roof leading edge etc).

Picked it up this morning, so I'm finally out of the 'allocation/waiting' thread, and TBH I'm a bit speechless and blown away! Porsche Mayfair (Justin King) were amazing from start to finish, ensuring it was a special handover. I'm very happy with the colour and spec I chose. One thing's for sure, Python Green has a multitude of hues, it really pops! Zero regrets there, and the black detail with the red flashes for contrast set it all off IMO. From the moment I enquired about an allocation, pretty much 11 months to the day, through the build delays and unknowns, right up to handing the car over this morning, the experience was an absolute pleasure. It's my first ever Porsche, so excuse the excitement when I uncovered it and laid eyes on it for the first time... First impressions driving it back home (through central london weekend traffic), incredible! The PDK is a joy, buckets are comfortable, and the noise is intoxicating, I can't wait to open it up properly. For those of you waiting for yours, stick in there, it's worth it!

As you’ll see from my own little thread, I’m somewhat torn. I was also told the Gt4 was invite only. That not the case at Mayfair?

POST 12Original post

Congratulations looks lovely and great to see a bold colour. I was up early and did an enjoyable 50 miles in mine this morning 🤓

POST 13Original post

Fantastic. The colour does look spectacular. I'll be posting on here soo too, as mine's now built. Hope you manage to get out in yours lots over the Summer.

POST 14Original post

Congratulations. Great package at the money. A bonus you missed the latest price increase.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks all for the very kind comments. I really am super-chuffed with the colour, I've had nothing but positive comments and compliments so far, and as a 3rd car weekend toy it gives me something aesthetically special as well as something mechanically specially. I can't help but smile each time I look at it. I've been out it in today for the whole day, getting some miles on the clock to know it and explore the power band, gearbox with all the modes. Wow, it really has blown away my expectations, it feels so special, perfectly balanced and such an all-round complete package. I genuinely can't think of another sports car I'd rather have right now. julian987R said: Pray tell what gifts are in the bag they gave you? Bits and bobs, mug, die-cast model, cable, screen wipe, chocolates, nothing of any real significance, but some nice tokens. The handover was more than enough, it wasn't rushed, it felt personal, and they ensured I got to savour the enjoyment of seeing it for the first time. crashley said: I was also told the Gt4 was invite only. That not the case at Mayfair? Nope, when I rang around last August, I was polite, honest and upfront and said I had zero Porsche buying history but I would be wanting to place my order/deposit there and then. The vast majority of dealers I spoke too were blunt (borderline rude) and said I have no buying history so they wouldn't entertain the idea. A few said they would, but their waiting list was 20-30 deep so said it was unlikely I would get one because they only got a handful of cars a year. Then proceeded to try and sell me an 18mth old used example for £10k over list without a penny off the screen price. Mayfair, however, treated me with honesty & courtesy (as I did with them). Justin said he'd put me on the waiting list and endeavour to get me an allocation, but he couldn't promise. True to his word the allocation arrived the week before Christmas and I locked spec end of January. 3 months of production delays meant I picked it up this weekend rather then 1st week of April, but I'm not bothered, it was only a short extension over what was a long wait anyway. What that order/waiting/allocation looks like if you were to do it today I have no idea, the worlds a very different place, but in my experience doing the leg-work on the phone is your best bet. av185 said: A bonus you missed the latest price increase. Luckily I missed the 3x price increases and 3x interest rate rises between when I ordered and now. My dealer honoured the price I ordered back in August saving me £4500 in price rises, and also the original finance quote of 5.9%. Apparently they don't honour prices if you cross MY builds, so as I ordered when it had just gone to MY22 and it snuck in as a MY22 build before they shutdown this summer for MY23, I got the original price.

Thanks. Nothing big I can think of tbh, the dealer was accommodating about all my requests like no front number plate/plinth attached, some spares made up for me left in the frunk etc. One small thing, if you plan to activate the tracker, make sure you have a Porsche Telematics account setup before hand, you purchase & activate the subscription through that portal because the account needs linking to the car, it's a different account to your 'My Porsche" account. https://pcc.vodafonetelematics.com/cwp/public/welc... Apart from that the only silly thing was not knowing where the handbrake was when I first went to drive away in it! SpyderMatt said: Congrats, great it’s finally landed, enjoy ! They have several really good recommendations on this forum, plus their work demonstrates an attention to detail that the 'bigger' places sometimes skimp on. They have allowed me to choose a specific package that suits my needs, rather than a fixed price menu. Applause said: Porsche offer factory PPF on the 992 GT3, its £1515 on the configurator, which represents decent value and removes the agro of having to use a 3rd party. Porsche Factory PPF is pretty s t from what I've seen. It's not wrapped, it's edged, and there are lots of examples on the 992 forum of poorly applied PPF which the OPC has had to get replaced on arrival. It's very bad VFM compared to what you can get elsewhere. Applause said: GT4 looks good, python was not an option when I ordered mine. - #MakeGreenGreatAgain Thanks. I'm also glad it's not a 4RS colour option, making it even more rare.

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After various work commitments and a holiday, the car hasn't really been anywhere and I've only just finally got around to getting the PPF sorted. Whilst it was there I decided to treat the car so it had a paint depth inspection then decontamination, then a full stage 1 machine polish/correction before the XPEL PPF was applied. XPEL Ceramic coating was put over the applied PPF and also XPEL ceramic coating over all other Paintwork/Plastic areas. Wheels off, decontaminated and ceramic coated/baked with Gtechniq C5 wheel armour, callipers & springs and all other wheel arch areas were also ceramic coated with Gtechniq. All the glass was given a coating of Gtechniq G1clearvision smart glass, so it now beads and repels. It took a whole week to complete, but wow I’m happy with the results, it looks better than factory! The Python Green now has a new level of depth to it which is locked in. With the PPF he did a custom XPEL package for me (somewhere between the normal 'track' and 'full' packages). After picking it up this morning I took it out for the day, driven as intended safe in the knowledge it was protected. A few pics from completion last night by the guys at RBD, and also a couple of pics by me from collection this morning... Edited by kmpowell on Saturday 27th August 17:35

I suspect the reality is not a bad as suggested on PH forums. Clickbait claptrap. Ask yourself if Porsche were struggling to shift remaining GT4 allocations then why on Gods earth would they have just increased the price to just under £82k. In fact the fourth price increase since the cars introduction being a record number of price increases for any Porsche GT. Even Lotus have promised to keep initial prices at mid 2021 introduction levels for their superb new Emira even for cars being delivered as late as Autumn 2023 due to demand. Check out other GT4 threads for further confirmation of difficulties in obtaining build slots and extended lead times.

POST 36Original post

Zero purchase history with my local Porsche Centre (north of England), I enquired about a GT3 and was told no chance but was offered a GT4 cancelled slot if I wanted it. The spec was locked in however and not to my tastes.

POST 37Original post

Ok but 1 cancelled build slot for a locked in probably weirdly specced car clearly isn't in any way representative of the state of play and availability for any new allocations if indeed there are any with the imminent production stop.

POST 38Original post

Oh no I wasn't suggesting it was, just a snap shot of what I was offered. IIRC the car was silver with PDK, clubsport and ceramics (and some others) which didn't really do it for me. I had a sneaky suspicion it was ordered in as dealer stock although I have no proof of that.

Edited by kmpowell on Saturday 27th August 17:35 fantastic... looks really great - if mine looks half as good when i pickup thursday i'll be happy as...

Finally took delivery myself this week and picked up from my OPC. All that waiting and frustration out the window when you sit in the seat and drive away for the first time! Apart from the half day Silverstone gig I haven't driven a car like this at all so its quite an experience. I have to say the drive home I was a nervous wreck... negotiating bad roads, speed bumps and other road users... phew i couldn't take it out for the rest of the day! It's going to take my quite some time to get used to the difference between this and my XC90 family car I knew it was low but oh my that front splitter... When it all comes together it is quite an experience - the whole pickup and reveal... loved it. I'll share some pics when i get a chance to stop shaking from the nerves... !

There's currently 65 x 718 GT4's on AutoTrader (and growing)...there more GT4's listed than GTS's (49x) and S's (36x). There's about twice as many 718 GT4's for sale compared to 981 GT4's. I still don't see where the word 'scarce' comes into it

Congrats buddy, truly awesome car that gets better and better the more you dial into it (just watch out for those camera thingys…) In the 4 months I’ve had mine I’ve only scrapped the splitter twice, once when I didn’t even think it would be a problem, but remember, as I do, it’s a replaceable unpainted part so not a big deal…

Refine the search to cars with PDK and bucket seats and this drops to 8 cars. 8 cars - in the U.K….’I still don’t see where the word ‘scarce’ comes into it : lol

kmpowell said: Thanks. I'm also glad it's not a 4RS colour option, making it even more rare. Hello! I am new to this forum and I must say that Python Green looks unbelievable. I know you picked up your car last July so it's been a year and a bit now. Would you recommend Race by Design for PPF? I am looking to have mine PPF as well but I am not sure which one to go for- you know OPC keeps on suggesting Topaz but the price is just shocking.

Thanks, and welcome! Just over a year on and I'm still glad I went for the colour and PPF options. To answer your question, I would certainly recommend RBD, they were brilliant. When I took it back for the free check-up/inpsection (4 months later) , they fixed a few areas of lift, and it's been perfect ever since. As I've said on other threads, though PPF is just part of it, IMO the protective coatings etc are equally (and in some cases more) important. After a session on track at Brands. The most obvious places (front bumper, sills and bonnet) were all splattered, but it was interesting to see the areas of discarded rubber splattering/collection which I wasn't expecting to such an extent. Before I had my PPF done I was advised by a few on here that the trailing edges on the rear bumper get battered, so as detailed in this thread I had a custom application fitted to protect those areas, and also a couple of areas the fitter recommended (roof leading edge etc). These are areas the normal 'track' package doesn't cover, and you only get with a full coverage, so in essence I had Track+ fitted (somewhere in-between track and full). The posters on here weren't wrong, and I'm glad I spent the extra! The lips and edges were splattered. So the ceramic coated PPF made it easy to remove. Most impressive area for me so far has been the Gtechniq C5 wheel armour was I think has been incredible. The brake dust literally falls off with water, not extra treatment required. Costs wise, I would swerve Topaz, as they are very expensive, and IMO you get better service from a local independant. I paid c£3k for the whole lot on mine (Machine polishes/detail, custom PPF, ceramic coatings etc), which my OPC/Topaz wanted to charge closer to £5k. If you do give RBD a call, Guy (the owner) knows my GT4, so do tell him I put you his way. Hope that helps.
