Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've spent some time on here before wingeing about the appalling handling of my car and it's desire to try and get airborne on the motorway. Well I finally got it down to Center Gravity and gave it to Chris for the day. In return I got a new car in terms of handling and ride. This will come as no surprise to any of you who have been there. However if you haven't and you have the least doubts about you cars handling I would take a trip down there. It was nice to know that most of the handling probs were not in my mind but were actually real. The look of disgust on Chris's face when he did the initial readings spoke volumes. Basically one back wheel was on sideways, the other tilted out and the whole car was sitting dead flat rather than nose down, which meant that at speed the nose lifted rather than sat. What was interesting was watching him go about one of the most thorough checks I have seen done to anything mechanical. We discovered my ride height had dropped to 138/135 rather than the usual 148/168 split it shouldave. This is due to the springs compressing and will eventually be solved by fitting an MO30 kit. In the meantime we packed the back up with a couple of spacers which gave me a 10-15mm lift and nose down. Then he attacked the back wheel. It turns out the reason it has not been set right at previous camber/tracking checks was a lump of flint impacted into the tie arm head socket which couldn't be removed and was forceing the wheel to point inboard very excessively. An hour of sawing and hacking and the whole thing was replaced and properly adjusted. Final test ride left me with a huge grin and a real appreciation of how this car really should handle. Word of warning though - Chris knows these cars very well and it can be quite alarming when he tells you to take the next bend at 50, 60 or more without lifting - because he knows the car will now go where it should rather than trying to put you through the hedge. Big smiles all the way home too

POST 2Original post

What was the costs ? I have a new set of coilovers (inc. shocks/springs and top mounts) I would like fitted and set up over the winter. Its been over a year from when last Geo was carried out too. Pleased your handling woes have been sorted out :thumb: A 911 does handle, but needs to be set up well. When I had a Geo done by Fearnsport 3 months after I brought her it changed the car 100%.

POST 3Original post

Have to say Ive only ever heard great things about CG. Read lots where he has corrected work done by even the most respected indies I suppose he is a specialist in steering and suspension geometry, not many others out there

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Costs started at about £250 plus vat I think for the check and alignment then add on anything you need/want to replace. More than happy with what I spent to set up what there is and want to add the MO30 kit to get it as good as possible. Shame was that the car had recently been geo'd at another indy who had missed all this.

POST 5Original post

Really good to hear, I had much the same problems as you and also took the car to Chris. As you mentioned, he thoroughly checks the cars setup before doing anything and we found the rear springs had collapsed 40mm giving me massive nose up attitude, a rear shock was leaking and the rear bushes were knackered. Disappointing as I'd had geos at 2 other places not long beforehand in the quest to get it sorted and neither said anything. Chris supplied and fitted KW V3s and then based upon my requirements set the car beautifully. He also did the corner weights and gave me a full education into how it all works and what he was doing. And I second you on the road test, free impromptu track day....."you probably want to take this one at 55 (when all you can see is a 90 right)..., there's a big off camber dip on this corner, should be interesting....gulp" I paid £400 per day for Chris's undivided attention, awesome results and worth every penny, the mans a legend.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yep, can't wait to get the full MO30 kit and try it out then. Just holding off going to the Ring or any track days until it's done and I can appreciate the full effect. Did want to take his Scirrocco GT out for a blast though Fond memories there, what a fun car...

POST 7Original post

CoG are the best. Simple. The GT3 was brilliant after. Dan, just do it, just allocate a lot of time for the job. Cheers, Jeff

POST 8Original post

Welcome to the converted. He's the only I'll have to do geo/susepnsion work on my 964. As you say, way he tells you to take bends at a particular speed I find inspiring, and you really felt what the car could do.

POST 11Original post

yep, i keep on hearing great thngs about CoG on this forum so I've booked my 997 C2S in. I'm really interested to see if it can make a difference to a new'ish (2006) car. thanks for all the great write ups on this subject. so much easier to make an informed decision and to find out what actually works vs. good marketing.

POST 12Original post

Maybe a 911uk group buy ?? If we can get one vehicle to him every 2 weeks so he will know he has a stram of cars coming !? We could talk discount ! :?:

POST 13Original post

You won't regret it, except wishing you'd done it sooner!

POST 14Original post

Let's see how it compares to the fast road/track JZMachtech geo I had done, which in truth I've been really happy with. That was more of a black science so to speak as you don't get to see them in action. This time I'll be right there with Chris learning and trying to understand. Gone for the full track package with corner weighting and kitchen sink :thumb:
