Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I sourced some second hand mufflers, had them modified at an exhaust specialist and installed by an indi!
Leading evidence: 'Install by an indi' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install by an indi' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was a little worried that it may sound as you described, but as other members have said, it does sound great, no difference at idle, but more throaty when pusing on, no drone on the motorway!
Has anyone had the Oettle/Wrightune bypass conversion on their C2 as I am thinking about having it done but would really like to hear one in the flesh before committing to spending the cash.
Looking for something a bit noisier but want to avoid sounding like a Max-power pleb!
If you have had it done and are anywhere within about 30 miles of SW6 I'd love to have a listen.
Just completed it today! Sounds great! I was a little worried that it may sound as you described, but as other members have said, it does sound great, no difference at idle, but more throaty when pusing on, no drone on the motorway! I sourced some second hand mufflers, had them modified at an exhaust specialist and installed by an indi! well impressed. There is a link on you tube, just type in Oettle if you want to listen, its a true/realistic sound. If you want any more info PM me!
I did the same as Porkerman and sourced a second set of back boxes for the modification. I did this for two reasons:
1. so that I was able to swap back quickly and easily should the need arise for any reason (re-sale, track day, wife objected etc)
2. I got Hayward & Scott to modify them and they are a fair way from me. Getting the boxes dropped off and modified meant that I could turn up and get the boxes swapped and therefore have to hang around for a relatively short time.
I jumped on a group buy from the Boxster forums but the work is the same and I am pleased with the results. A much nicer noise when pressing on higher in teh rev range but with no drone or boom at motorway cruising speed. In addition, as the boxes are still effectively standard I have no issues with them and the new warranty.
I would definitely recommend it as a cost effective alternative to the PSE system.
Pontypool, exactly the same resons as above, just for ease really, took them to Dynoflow (Lincoln) in my rep mobile and Finlay converted them while i waited, then a week later had Sport and Classic (Knutsford) fit them, many thanks to Mike for his great service!!!!! As stated above great result, no drone on the motorway, no max-power pleb noise at the lights, just a sweet growl when you hit the go pedal!!!!
