Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, I've been lurking around here for a few weeks trying to pick up advice on buying my first 996. I've spent the last 8 years in an early Elise and now fancy living the dream in a 911. My budget, upto £15k, leaves me looking at the lower end of the market. There's a 98 C2 on autotrader for £13.5k, seems a good price but the mileage (113k) is higher than most for sale. If the condition and history is good, would you be put off by the miles? It leaves a bit left over for any work needed or maybe a few track days

POST 2Original post

hi there, i'm also looking for my first 996. i've seen the car u mention but i think its a bit overpriced . i've been looking and seen ones with a lot less miles for the same money. good luck

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers Brendan, where are you looking? Pistonheads, autotrader, etc?

POST 4Original post

I was in the same boat in Jan this year took the plunge and got the best car I could afford which seems to be the most sound advice. Lots of research and checking await!!! Do your homework and you will be fine.

POST 5Original post

There is a decent-looking Silver 996 in the latest 911&Porsche World with 76k on the clock, FPSH, 18" wheels, etc, at £13850.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Porsche-911-9...3|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1308|301:1|293:1|294:50 wow - the guy has obviously enjoyed driving this one. What sort of price do you think it'll make? Worth taking a look? Are there many really high milers out there like this? Are they good for another 200k miles aas the seller has suggested?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers Richard, I'll take a look. Really would prefer something other than silver though.

POST 8Original post

Yea. E & Mart don't have much and theres E Bay, but most don't even reach their reserve

POST 9Original post

I'd budget for a proper inspection before buying as the price to purchase could pale into insignificance compared with costly malfunctions if you get one with issues. Obviously the cheaper the purchase price the more likely that could be.

POST 10Original post

same boat here I'm also looking for a cheap but decent 996 ,14k-18k budget and looking for advice ,and on thing ive noticed all the cheaps ones are blue lol whys that

POST 11Original post

Less desirable perhaps - but I don't see why they should be? :dont know: How does Black fare these days? :?:

POST 12Original post
