My Graphite Blue 718 Cayman reg. no. CK17 JYU (WP0ZZZ98ZHS261880) was stolen from a residential parking lot in West London on Monday, 4 September 2023 at around 11:20 am. Jacked up onto rollers and driven off on a White Fiat Ducato tow truck reg. no. BX17 XPM in broad daylight in front of a dozen witnesses.
Although 6 years old, the Cayman was very well maintained and in great condition with only 10k miles on the clock due to COVID and subsequent work abroad. The car had Agate Grey Alcantara interior and 6-speed manual gearbox.
Please report any information, including any parts for sale to the police. Thank you.

1. Do you owe payments on it?
2. A 10second image search in Google leads me to think the number plate could easily be mistaken for BX17 XPW (a W not a M) which is a repo truck, which is a Fiat.

This sounds more like guess work than detective work to me.
Surely if the OP was behind with payments he would be well aware of that, he would have had plenty of warnings and if the car subsequently disappeared he would know why.
I'm not really sure your detective work is up to scratch.
Boniface Engineering in Thetford are the manufacturers of the vehicle. Burke Brothers Recovery were the first owners of the vehicle.
I very much doubt that Burke Brothers still own it six years later and it's highly unlikely that they are moving cars in West London with it.
It does sound very repossession-ish though.

It is this kind of criticism in reply (and the previous) that stopped me from posting for a year.
All signs point to that truck registered either with that company with it in its gallery of fleet or the company name and number written on the side of it. Either way all signs point to whomever that is registered to.
I don’t see you bringing much to the party.
What a negative place this can be. I give up.

Don't expect the Internet to be kind to you. Don't take it personally. It is just a bit of fun.
But if you don't enjoy it then yes leave.
Ideally find a way to not take it too seriously and shrug off the moaners.

Both the Reg No the OP posted for the truck and the one you came up with are both white Ducato Diesels - so what has that proved?
You have no idea where that car is, or who took it there, even if any of your assumptions were anywhere near right, how can you possibly tell the OP the address of where his car is, what proof do you have?

It is my prediction that the registration of the Fiat that was taken at the time was was wrong and that it ends with a W not an M. That points to two companies associated to a Fiat repossession truck with that registration.
Why not put some effort into helping the OP rather than nit-picking in some supercilious matter at my theory. Just keep out of it for the benefit of the OP.
Julian - AToM is correct; you need to chill out if people don't agree with you. And you
have
made a linked set of assumptions, any one of which may be incorrect. But it was funny.

The OP needs no help. Either the police will find his NOT-repo'd and genuinely stolen car (in which case your assumptions are incorrect), or the repo-company have already been in touch telling him where it is and how much he now owes them if he wants it back.

You have posted the address the OPs car is at, justify that, because unless I actually knew something like that for sure (not a wild guess) I would have more sense than to post it, you clearly haven’t.
As for your 'prediction' what makes you think all the witnesses and the OP got the plate wrong but you on the other hand have come up with another probably completely unrelated vehicle that it could be. Why not add BX17 XPN too, which is another white Ducato Diesel, there are more.
If you choose to post nonsense don't be surprised if you get pulled up for it.

You posted up a load of twaddle.
Firstly, you've posted the address of the manufacturers of the vehicle and suggested to the OP that his car will at a factory that makes recovery vehicles.
Secondly, you've posted a picture of a truck belonging to a reputable company in the Midlands that has a different registration number to the one supplied by the OP.
I'm guessing that you didn't make the grade for Scotland Yard.
You're welcome.
I can’t understand why someone is suggesting that the car will be at the address of the company that made the tilt and slide bed for the recovery vehicle quite a few years ago..
What am I missing here
Edit-above post beat me to it

You stated the address where the op’s car is at!! You are spouting nonsense and in no way helping the OP.

As others have stated its unlikely we will see the OP again.
So until then I'm thankful for julians response

Well just call the number on the side of the truck of the repo company!!!You can't really think I claim to know it is 100% there. I have given some clues - they might lead to something, who knows, stranger things have happened.

So he’s deduced the car is at the address of the recovery equipment manufacturer in Thetford, based on changing the reg number from the eyewitnesses accounts?
Shall we all jump in with ludicrous guesses as to where the cayman is now?

I’m too busy putting the kettle on so I can read the tea leaves to find out where the stolen cayman is-I’d have as much of a chance reading those as listening to your nonsensical “guessing “.
I’m not being negative, you are just spouting utter pish, it’s at such and such in Thetford, you’re welcome.drivel.
Have a look at what you actually posted, and see if you think your smartarse matter of fact post has helped the OP in any way at all.

Right so it was stolen a week ago and based on a clear sighting that the reg was BX17 XPM then you'd have thought, after a week, that would lead to something...but it hasn't as the OP posted here the news, one week later. So lets come at it another way.....
It seems coincidental that a FIAT flat bed with BX17 XPW exists and owned by a repossession company. The OP could easily call call the number on the side of the Fiat with BX17 XPW. Why is that so hard to fathom as a line of enquiry? How do you know the eyewitnesses account is correct as much as you berate me over claims.
Maybe, just maybe the W was mistaken for an M. Who knows?
And maybe, just maybe, you are being overly negative and rude. You really can't stand to admit there could be a shred of opportunity to my hunch - and that is eating you up isn't it.
AskMID says the car is not insured (would that be the case if it was reported stolen and unrecovered?
It is taxed but the MOT ran out on 5th September (the day before it was stolen).

It hasn’t crossed your mind that if the op is genuine, that these car theives might for one minute have used cloned plates on their truck?
What kind of ball bag would steal cars with their truck displaying their actual reg plate ffs..
There is no credibility to your hunch. You mater of factly stated the actual address where the car is, then smugly added you’re welcome, like you’d cracked the case hahahahaha.
You’ve made yourself look extremely foolish.
Have a good evening.

Oy vey, That is the point! I don't think it has been stolen at all! that is my whole contention! ...don't just jump on the coat tails of other sour people, bl**dy read! What the hell is wrong with you?!
More like, I've made you look like a right muppet. Toodle pip, now go away.

AskMID says the car is not insured (would that be the case if it was reported stolen and unrecovered?
It is taxed but the MOT ran out on 5th September (the day before it was stolen).
Fishier than a dodgy paella
Now you are talking. Great to see someone here helping move the conversation on with some positive insights.

There is only one poster on this thread that has made a complete fool of himself and that is you.
You foolishly assume that if you keep adding to the nonsense you have already posted will get away with it.
You haven’t and won’t but by all means feel free to keep trying. If you distance yourself far enough away from your original post if nothing else you will reduce your embarrassment, worth a try.

I am not adding to the nonsense nor distancing myself, I have explained my theory plenty. What I am doing is pushing back on your cantankerous nonsensical arguments that are born of spite and I am wondering when you are going to contribute something of value.

Well this is some welcome comic relief from the "GT3 Values Going Up" thread
The OP could have included the part where the police had informed him they were cloned plates, but then we would have missed 2 pages of "fun reading"
Not sure why he wouldn't have included that in his opening post as he posted the part on cloned plates the day before on the Porsche forum linked previously.
Anyway I hope Julian doesn't give up again, we need his posts

The OP stated right from the start the car was stolen, he knew it hadn't been repossesed.
With that in mind does anyone actually believe a tow truck would pull up with a legit plates/ID on it and steal a car?
Well, other than one person maybe.

I don't think anyone has suggested that apart from the OP(ish). OP thinks car has been stolen and does plate check on truck only to find they are clones but neglects to tell us. Other bloke (and a couple of others) suggest it's been repossessed given the nature of the grab. Within a few seconds it's turned into a good old-fashioned PH fight with two key protagonists trying to dominate the keyboard.

The op did nothing wrong, he chose to start a thread stating his car had been stolen and driven off on the back of a truck with the Reg No he quoted. Whether it was a cloned plate or not was irrelevant to his post, so he didn’t neglect to tell us he didn’t need to. The purpose of this thread was for him to ask people to inform the Police if they knew anything about his car, any parts that might have been offered for sale from it or any other information relating to his missing car.
Whatever mate, I've got no dog in this fight and you obviously feel very strongly about the whole thing so I'll let you crack on fighting it out with the other bloke.

I am extremely mild mannered - just that he who cast the first stone.
I didn't start all that kerfuffle. I came to the thread with a theory to help the OP**, but sadly others came with attitude.
whom thanked me on the other thread, nor did anyone else jump down my neck.

We did, you didn’t. In any case the resultant investigation that went spectacularly wrong was one that even Inspector Clouseau would have been proud of.
Anyway, I am sure the teachers would rather stay in the staff room with their feet up drinking tea than come down to the playground again so let’s leave it there.

What is 'tiresome and boring' are members with such negative attitude. It only went South as others reacted in a "Massive out of proportion, Israeli style response"
Completely unjustified.

I stay off these forums because there is so much unnecessary vitriol, and I'm not picking sides in this fight of yours but really @julian987R, you play the victim by using a racial slur (see the Equality Act 2010 s.1(b), and before that the Race Relations Act)?
This is a Porsche sub-forum, let's not attack each other or innocent bystanders, and instead just talk about Porsches using the many words that English affords us which are not provocative to individuals or discriminatory against others. It really shouldn't be hard.
I'm editing this again as I'm so fed up with the endless threads dominated by insults between people I don't know. Please, for others, just focus on the Porsches. Pistonheads was once upon a time such a valuable resource.

Always a lot of trolling on these forums, (I certainly don't include Julian in that; I guess some don't get the humour), but I've noticed there are other really rather unpleasant characters on here always quick to jump in and snipe which seems unique to PH unlike most other forums. A lot of the trolls also seem to be long serving members, thankfully some have now been banned by the mod team but only after some time.
Not sure why so many people get worked up though. Both posters have made valid points, and I prefer a keyboard row over someone taking a thread off-topic.
Like i've just done I guess.

A pornstar name if ever there was one.

Oh I follow you now. Reminds me, this forum is like a "cosmic desert trolley" too
Been enjoying this thread. But I am lost now. What has a reference to a line from the Thick of It got to do with the Equality Act 2010? Section 1(b) doesn’t even exist and section 1 concerns obligations on public authorities. Even if Julian was making a racial slur (which doesn’t seem to be the case), how is s1 of the act relevant?

If someone had pretty much accused you of not paying your finance, getting the car repossessed and then starting a thread saying it was stolen, would you come back?

Yes, this is the internet. I'm sure the OP has his big boy pants on. And this is PH, no-one in their right mind comes on here if they're fragile or worried by anyone else's opinion. No?

The OP started a thread asking if anyone got wind of anything relating to his missing car to inform the Police, nothing more.
In the OPs position once several posters had labelled me as being daft enough to not have known my own car had been repossessed because I hadn't made payments on it I would not have bothered to post again. Not because I would have been offended by the suggestion but because why would I bother to engage with people that daft on here, when I wouldn't dream of doing it in the real world.
