I have been getting alot of squeaking noise from the driver side where the small storage area and the seatbelt is, and I want to see if you guys know how I could stop that and it only happens with I hit a bump.
Please help its driving me crazy
It could be a few different things. There is a screw underneath the seatbelt mount that loosens up, also there is (I believe) another under the rear window. Other people have had the same problem, and I'm pretty sure those were the culprits.
There are few similar threads already. See the bottom of the page. Thread 1 seems the most relevant.
so do you have any pictures what I'm looking for?
***** I've noticed that you will get a squeaking noise if the driver's seat is raked so that it just touches the engine bulkhead.
My Boxster use to make a noise right behind my head. It was the seat belt rubbing on the seat headrest. I put a very small amount of powder on the seat where it made contact and solved that problem. My Cayman does not have any noise luckily.
Not sure if this will help, but I have a similar plastic sounding squeak coming from the rear passenger side. Only on certain rough roads will I notice it.
If you open the rear hatch, you see the several plastic panels behind right the storage compartment.
What I did was just put my hands on each of these panels and gently push/tug/squeeze them to see of any were loose or noisy.
Mine turned out to be the large piece that covers the strut tower (with the circular outline). When I push on it, I can hear it crackling/squeaking slightly. It doesn't appear loose by any means, so I'm guessing that some foam tape or noise deading insulation was mis-applied during assembly. I've tried this test on other
Caymans
at the dealership and none made any type of noise on that piece.
I'm still debating if I want to bring this back to the dealer to have them fix it. After looking at Ken's article on painting those pieces, it looks like some major disassembly from the seat belt housing on back to get to that piece. Not sure if this will cause more problems than it'll fix!
Hope that helps.
Do you have a Hamster in your Cayman?
I think all
Caymans
have this noise. By studying K-Mans photos I manage to take apart some of the trim pieces to figure out where the noise was coming from. My dealer tried to fix the problem with little improvement. I believe the noise that you are describing comes from the side plastic piece (one with the light attached) rubbing against the piece that has the flip up storage compartment. When you take the side piece out, you will see small tabs at the bottom edge where you will see rubbing artifacts on the surface.
Chances are that it's the rear window. Dealer had to disassemble it and lubricate where the glass makes contact. It worked for a few months, but the creak/squeak is back. I'm taking it in next week.
I second this if it's a 'chirping' sound when going over bumps. The dealer replaced the whole rear quarter window. No chirps for the past 6 months. I think the true test will be in the summer months when things expand.

I had the same problem. I followed the seatbelt removal article, and removed the plastic piece located around the seatbelt, and tightened a 14mm nut located on the B pillar. The sound went away instantly.
I also have a chirp that sounds like it is coming from the drivers side seat belt housing area.
I had my car at the dealer the other day, and they fixed the chirp. Turns out there were some broken clips in there.
