Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi there, i have recently put a deposit down on a '99 996 cab in Artic Silver with the metropole blue interior, and blue roof. 42K and is my first porsche. i have not got the car yet and have a few questions. the car is in really nice condition, but as it was a reposession it only has 1 ignition key, and no owners manual. (i has got full service history from porsche on a replacement issued book) how much would a key be, does it have to be programmed? - how can you get an original owners manual from, there are none on E-bay. i think it has the standard porshe CD drop down fronted CD player, but where can i get a disc changer from? thanks deccle

POST 2Original post

Hi and welcome, I believe your best route to a new key is via the dealers and I think (from memory) you are looking at about £200 - £250 all told. It does indeed have to be "coded" to the car. One option for a manual would be ordering one through dealer too although i don't know the cost. Might be better to wait on one to come up via Ebay / forum etc CD changers from Ebay, audio retailers, forum members selling etc. However, you might want to look into an ipod adaptor (and ipod if you dont have one). This would enable you to get all your music with you in the car and is much easier to install too. Most of all, enjoy when it arrives. I've had my C2 for just over two years and I'm still loving it. Guy

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for the reply, not got the car yet, got to wait another week or so to get the finaance in order and get my private plate off my BMW. Does the ipod connection fit into the standard CD radio head unit, or is it a splicing wiring mod - do you have a link? Was 20k about the right money for a '99 T plater with FPSH and 42K? Dan

Also: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/996/143634-how-install-iporsche-ipod-integration-system.html and http://www.austinpe.com/install.html might help too. POST 5Original post

deccle - firstly welcome to the forum. The original owners/drivers manuals do occasionally crop up on ebay. I sold my surplus pre-facelift 996 manual on ebay to a 911uk.com forum member. Search for both "owner" and "driver" manual in your search field. Enjoy your Carrera :thumb:

POST 6Original post

Not worth bothering with a second hand manual on eBay. Go to an OPC and they will get you one for your specific model and year. They are only £12.23+VAT. Part Number: WKD.996.120.99

POST 7Original post

What some people are too polite to say but are thinking it is: 99 996 repo 20k? Gulp! Happy happy dealer.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

maybe a bit steep, but i got 2K more than glasses guide for my car on a trade in + the C2 has 4 new pirelllis on the car with, porsch service when i get it, FPSH, road tax, hard top, and its in supurb condition inside ans out, so i dont think thats way over. repo? - no real issues there? - just some guy overstreched himself and lost it, so hopefully its not been sold because it got a fault somewhere! anyway, thanks for the help Dan

POST 9Original post

Dan If you are happy then that is all that matters Some on here(most in fact) paid a lot more than they would get back now Me included Worth the losses? You bet! Enjoy your Porker there really is no substitute! Welcome to forum.

POST 10Original post

I'm confidant you will enjoy the car Dan, I keep coming back for more punishment. Over the years I've had 5 911's and the only time I was sad was when I ventured into 'Boxsterdom'. Great cars but IMHO lack soul, which the 911 has in bucketfulls. So have fun, Dan, you made a superb choice in car, so put what you paid for it to one side, cos it just doesn't matter anymore you've passed over the dosh! When you're in your rocking chair, it will be one of the cars that you will look back on fondly BTW in the old days, you'd buy a new one and when you came to p/e the next year against another new one you'd almost get your money back. Then I got a big shock when I got my first 996, after 12 months Porche 'Realigned' their new prices - still remember it, my 1997 Car cost £60k, sold it to an OPC for £44k after price realignment - ouch!

POST 11Original post

If you've got the opportunity to negotiate on the price then your first bid should be £15k imho Welcome to the forum  Ray :thumb:
