Second time that my car is floaded, from the passenger side, because of the drain coming from the top and going down on the side of the door. Was cloge, by debris from three or other. First time, was repaired from a
Porsche
dealer, they say it was coming from A/C, the drain was cloge, maybe by a spider nest. This time, after a big rain, over 40 minuntes, and then start the car the radio is working, after 100 feet, everything stop, no more sound, but the display still showing the radio station. After 3 minutes, arrive home, but my hand under the passenger seat and felt a lot of water, at least one inch. This time, I have remove the seat, remove all the water, and the amplifier. I have dry up everything, I was going away for tree weeks, came back, try the amplifier, did not work. I have order one from '' AliExpress'', I just received the new amplifier, try it on, only a large ''hump sound'' no music, nothing. Does anybody, as experience this, do I need to program or a code, to make it work. If somebody, want to know, how I uncloge the drain, let me know. Tks, in advance.
It's not clear to me what drain you're referring to. There are several drains up front under the cowling (area ahead of the windshield - lots of electronics/mechanical stuff lives there..) If that floods it will get into the passenger compartment. There is a drain on each side in the box area behind the engine that the top folds into. These like to plug up with leaves and general munge.
Porsche
makes anti-blockage wire screens for these that help to prevent that problem. This is the most likely cause of flooding since the top basically drains down to this area. Those drains emerge under the car somewhere, and are best cleaned by blowing them out with compressed air, then pouring a liter of water through each one to make sure it flows freely.
Your large hump sound - could be a defective amp. AliExpress is likely peddling used ones - they aren't making them. It also could be a badly corroded electrical connector - the one that plugs into the amplifier. Have you examined this? There are two different amps - look the same - basically the same connector - one for the
Boxster
one for the
Cayman
(different number and layout of the speakers) - they are not interchangeable - you want the exact same PN as the one that came out. There is one digit changed between them (the last digit in the
next
to last 3 digit part of the part number. One is 0, the other is 1.)
The drains that I am referring are the one, when the top fold down, on passenger side was plug up, as you mentionned, I have tried some wire and finally with a product call '' Liquid Plumr, industrial strength'' it dit clear out, After, I have run few test to see If all drains where OK, even make sur the one from the AC, was running good. So yesteray end afternoon after reading many issues, I decided to test again the amplifier, but before, I did remove the fuse from the right side box, the one for the
Bose Amplifier
40, connected the new amplifier, turn the switch on, that the radio and all other sound came back on. Try to put back the 40 fuse on, then a big '' humm'' came on, have remove the fuse again, and have left it out, I have notice, when I start the car the radio sound is not working, then turning the sound nobe it does come back. Hard to understand. I will see, how it goes for the
next
few day. Have a good day.
