Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

A very respected company here in Australia is Penrite, and their HPR 5W 40 is a recommended oil for the 996.

I ended up emailing Lake Speed Jr as all the recommended oils that this site comes up with are difficult to source.

Unfortunately this oil is getting very difficult to source and I'm subsequently looking to change brands.

Again, if you change your oil multiple times a year, it makes all the difference.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Up until now I've been using Mobil 1 5W50 in my C2. Unfortunately this oil is getting very difficult to source and I'm subsequently looking to change brands. A very respected company here in Australia is Penrite, and their HPR 5W 40 is a recommended oil for the 996. However I have just discovered their 10 Tenths range and I was hoping that some oil gurus could take a look at the specs and lend some advice.

I'm based in South Australia where we are coming into winter, however winters here are quite mild.
10 Tenths Range
I'm no expert, but the 10ths looks good. My view is to change the oil more frequently and if you do, there is less to worry about which good oil to use. Just use one and change it a lot.
Aussie here too. Sydney
I looked at this oil. I also called their support number and had a senior chemist call me. It was a great conversation. Really got nerdy on oil.
would have gone with this oil but they don't add moly which is something that, rightly or wrongly, I want in my oil
Motul 5W-40 8100 X-Cess Gen 2. I ended up emailing Lake Speed Jr as all the recommended oils that this site comes up with are difficult to source. He gave me a list
I sent away for a Virgin Oil Analysis and it has moly and happy days for me. I'm about to try their 5W-50 as during a spirited run I thinned out the oil a bit (oil pressure was lower than I liked). Pressure came back once I backed off and cruised for 10 min.
I don't do additives. I just buy the oil that has what I want. Lake Speed Jr (Motor Oil Geek) goes into this on his YT channel.
Hey mate, I'm in NZ.
I stared off using HPR5 for a while, but have recently been using HPR10 10w50 in my C2 3.4 Aero. Will get you a bit safer oil pressure in the hard twisties!
go to a 60W if you are tracking it for even more safety.
Penrite make good stuff
