Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You can get a rear facing seat in the front, but you need to have the airbag deactivator bar fitted (and a special seat belt clip to fit in it, so you can deactivate the bag!).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Can anyone let me know if they have tried the Britax Vigour 3 in a 996 or other Pushchair in 996? Also any info on a rear facing child seat to be fitted in the rear seat. Newborn on the way and getting pressure to chose the pram and seat combination. Rgds Mark

POST 2Original post

The 996 is a good car for a young family, but really only once the child is big enough for a forward facing seat (so 12months+). I don't believe it's possible to fit a rear facing seat in the back, unless you push the front passenger seat so far forward it becomes unusuable. You can get a rear facing seat in the front, but you need to have the airbag deactivator bar fitted (and a special seat belt clip to fit in it, so you can deactivate the bag!). As for getting a pushchair in the car as well, best of luck! I tried lots and lots of small prams and eventually gave up. The best I could do it a MacLaren Triumph pushchair, which is more of a stroller and I could only fit lying between the front and rear seat (in the footwell). I'd suggest you do a search for the common things like "baby", "child seat", "baby seat", "pram" etc to see what options you have.

Quinny Zapp is tiny when folded up, but it may be for bigger babies - over 6 months? A friend had one of these and it goes across the rear seats, so I am sure it will fit - http://www.preciouslittleone.com/acatalog/JNJN3486X-H61.html Note : pronounced Hane, not Jane - (????;-)) LOJO

POST 5Original post

I had a look at this when I started thinking a 996 could make suitable family transport (as a second fun car). Rear facing I'm not too sure about as ours is only about 2 months from forward facing but for buggies I had a look at a Petite Star Zia and it looks like it might fit in the turbo boot but I'll try before I buy obviously... http://www.petitestarproducts.com/productdetail.cfm?ProductID=177

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the info It looks like I will try the Quinny and Petite Star and go from there. I am not paying for the Porsche branded equipment.

POST 7Original post

Note - the Zapp may not be right for 0-6 months - I think the baby has to lie flat?? LOJO

POST 8Original post

sell it I'd sell the porsche and get a bigger car. Then when the kids are bigger buy another one and have it all for yourself without the food stains / baby sick / lost toys stuck under the low seats etc etc ...... and a back that you didn't slip a disc with whilst trying to buckle the little ones up

POST 9Original post

Hi, My daughter was introduced to my 996 C4S at 16 weeks. We used the rear facing Graco seat in the rear, (behind the front passenger seat), of the car no problem. She spent many a happy hour in the car, even went to sleep with the sports exhaust on! Now she is older I have the front facing Protec seat. The Graco system is excellent and very versatile, having hard back sport seats I was concerned about any scratches but no problems. My wife is also able to sit in the passenger seat with the Graco and Protec seat in place. Also Quinny Zapp no brainer. Regards Alan.

POST 10Original post

My daughter is 10 weeks and we took her out the other day in a rear facing baby seat in the back behind the passenger seat. Our baby seat is one of the old ones that is secured with the seat belt so it fitted fine albeit my wifes legs were a bit cramped in the front. The seat wedged in niceley between the front and rear seat backs so it certainly wouldnt go anywhere in a crash.
