I was about to finally admint defeat and book it into a local Indy who said they'd need a couple of days to strip it down, check microswitches, etc...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wanted to post this on here so that it could help others, but also to let RichardH know that I have cured my issues My roof would unlatch, open the clamshell but then 9/10 times not do anything more. When it did occasionally open there were a lot of odd noises and juddering accompanying it. It tended to close ok, but not being able to pop the roof down easily in last weeks sunshine was maddeniing. I had popped to see RichardH a couple of months ago who very kindly plugged his diagnostic in to read the errors. Armed now with general error given as "timeout" I spoke to 5 or 6 Indies who couldn't put their finger on why it was happening. I was about to finally admint defeat and book it into a local Indy who said they'd need a couple of days to strip it down, check microswitches, etc... It was going to be expensive..when finally on Rennlist i found a post that was giving the identical sympoms and the suggested fix was adding more fluid to the hydraulic reservoir, together with the instructions on how to do it. Armed with this info (bearing in mind I am a farily hopeless DIY mechanic) I attacked it last night and despite being bloody fiddly was rewarded with the most beautiful, seamless, quiet, quick roof action up and down over and over again I am so pleased to have finally sorted this and for the total investment of £20 in some hydraulic fluid, a syringe and some tubing and so I hope that anyone else who might be a bit wary of undoing bits and having a go yourself reads this and gives it a bash - it can be well worth it.
