Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Took me about 45min including waiting for all oil to stop dripping(ish) and the 20min recommended 'dripping time' when refilling to measure the correct level.
Leading evidence: 'Use 8.5)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'single easiest thing i've done' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend 'dripping time'' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

So really my oil/filter change cost me around £80 not including tools which I'll use again and again, try getting that from an Indy or OPC.

Plus the filter only needs changing every 2 oil changes.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

How easy is that?! Probably the single easiest thing I've done to the car. The hardest part was jacking it up onto 4 axle stands. Took me about 45min including waiting for all oil to stop dripping(ish) and the 20min recommended 'dripping time' when refilling to measure the correct level.
Here's my parts list if anyone is interested
2x 5 litre Mobil 1 (used 8.5)
1x sump plug and washer kit from OPC
1x filter and O ring from OPC
1x 'Drainmaster' oil collector
Drainmaster
1x Oil filter removal tool
1x small torque wrench + 8mm hex (allen) socket
1x pair of gloves (very important as it goes everywhere :wack: )
1x roll of kitchen roll or similar

After totting all this up was it really worth the saving
I guess this was an unsheduled oil/filter change or was it a pre service money saving excersise?
Well done though
the thought of jacking onto 4 stands frightens me I think I would dig a man hole in my drive!

The oil was sourced for MUCH less than OPC charge,
The filter tool, about £5 inc delivery from ebay, and good to have in tools
The plug and washer was minimal (can't remember exactly)
Filter £13.83 from OPC
Drainmaster £15 and a very usefull and reusable purchase
Torque and socket you should have anyway

It was an unsheduled change after the Ring trip and quite a few spirited drives. Oil being the life blood of your engine it's best looked after so kind of an exploritory and preventative measure. There's a certian peace of mind in knowing how it's done and that it was done properly with love, haha...

Oh, and you don't need to do the axle stand thing, you could always back it onto ramps or anything which would raise it high enough to get your hands and a collecting tray under. I wanted to check the running gear and also have a good look around underneath...
