Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have a 2007 Boxster 987. Battery died and got key stuck in the ignition which sounds like it happens a lot. But I’ve fixed everything and still have to use the tool every time to remove the key. I replaced the ignition and it still won’t come out of the new one without using the tool. This is very annoying. Can anyone please help? I’ve read about it happening to others but never heard how to fix it. Thanks!!

POST 2Original post

What tool are you talking about ? This happened to me but once a powered the battery again I was able turn the key back and release it.

POST 3Original post

On the inside of the fuse cover there's a thin metal rod that you insert into the hole next to the key to release the key.

POST 5Original post

Worth mentioning, key stuck related. I jumped in my car in a rush and slide my Toyota key (which fit perfectly) in the ignition and turned it.The ignition security set-up mechanism inside broke instantly with a very light click noise. Key got stuck and had to remove as above. BUT had to install a brand new Ignition assembly.Once the built in security system breaks inside it cant be fixed and needs replaced. Not a cheap part obviously as with everything on this car. Lesson learned, detached my Toyota key and now carry Porsche key on a separate holder. That happened approx 8 years ago the first week I had the car ,learned a lot that day.Had to get car towed to dealer,1.5 hrs away, catch a cab home, pay the big bill and get a ride next day to pick up car at dealer. Fun stuff!!
