Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

The other day I was driving my CS around in 94 degree weather, humid, and left it parked for 9 hours in the sun. When I started it up there was no sound coming from the audio system at all. I repeatedly turned it on/off and even restarted the motor a few times....nothing. Later that day I started it up again and the sound came back. Another thing I've noticed is that the volume goes up and down on it's own sometimes. Any ideas?

When the radio did not work, did it say " PORSCHE " on the display? If so, you may be able to reset it by playing with the fuse or disconnecting the battery . Do a search here as I don't remember the details, but I once had to do the fuse thing and it's been fine ever since (many, many months).

Yep, the old radio blue screen of death. Know it well. Pull the radio fuse for 5 secs and your done.

My 2010 CS does the same thing on occasion. No sound from the radio but I can play an MP3 CD with no problems. If I let it sit for a few hours, it corrects itself (until the next time). I never related it to temperature, hummm.... it's a freakin' enigma.

POST 5Original post

I've had this problem and believe it or not, it was also common on the CDR- 23 on my 2003 Boxster S! Basically an authorization key of some type gets passed between the car computer and the CDR-24 to enable audio output. When I've had this problem in the past, some sequence of the following has restored audio output: 1) Shut off the CDR-24. 2) Turn off the car. 3) Open door. 4) Lock car with fob. 5) Unlock car with fob. 6) Open door. 7) Insert key. 8) Turn on the CDR-24. Worst case I had to do this about six times, then my audio came back.

I had this very same issue last week and this method worked perfectly, I only needed to do it the once though.:hilarious:
