BTW none of those codes indicate a faulty engine or a bad lifter, a bad lifter would produce MISFIRE codes and you don't have any, I suspect your "ticking" noise is actually normal for your engine, H6 engines make lots of ticking/rattline noises, it is just the nature of the engine.

POST 1Original post

I can't believe how s--ty of a company porsche is. I have always dreamed of owning a porsche and I was finally able to get one and it has been a total nightmare. I have had so many problems with this company especially george gee porsche in liberty lake WA. I had a cat. failure under warrenty and I sent it to them from Montana and when I got my car back the was a exhaust leak at the header to head on my Cayman S . I called them back to tell them it wasn't right they came and got the car again. It was still under warranty. Each time I have to go get the car it costs me about $250. I got a call from them saying everything was ok and the noise was "normal, sounds great". When I got home the "tick" was still there at the header. I put the car up on my lift and found header bolts missing!!!!!!!!!! They didn't even bother to look at it. They just lied to me on the phone and said there was no problems. I called them back to tell them that there was bolts missing and they wouldn't even answer the phone. Boise Porsche told me they never can get them on the phone and Boise said they don't recommend George Gee to anyone!!!!! They never called me back so I called Porsche customer care to complain. After a 4 day review they told me there was nothing they could do. Now the warrenty is over and now both my cats are pulling codes. George gee and Porsche cust. care dont care. Neither of them will call me back!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a **** a-- company. Ford has better cust. service. So now its 2000 miles over warranty and my lifter has failed. Common problem from what boise and salt lake told me. So now I has a POS that has 2 bad cats and a bad lifter and no one is responding to me. I have been calling porsche cust. care everyday to try to get help and they don't give a ****!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just want to tell everyone that porsche is a joke and I would consider very hard about buying one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry to have to be like this but I think I should have bought a Chevy !!!!!!!!!!!! Please leave this post on here so people don't get screwed. Thanks

POST 3Original post

Sounds like your issue is more with this particular dealership than Porsche as a company. I understand you may be frustrated, but this is not the place to post unjustified rants about Porsche cars and encouraging people not to buy them. I suggest you cool down a bit before posting again, or just sell off your car and buy that Ford or Chevy you were talking about. Also, if the dealership "wouldn't even answer the phone" it's entirely possible they might have been closed when you tried to call. Why would they answer the phone previously and then all of a sudden stop taking calls?

POST 4Original post

No they were open because the women who transferred me to service said they were there. I left a message. I then called right back and asked her if they were back there and she said yes. Boise Porsche told me they hate dealing with George gee because of how they run that service therre. Sales is great! There is a salesman named David and he is the best salesman I have ever seen. He is amazing. I would buy a car from him anyday. I really like him. He really represents Porsche like someone should. As far as Porsche cust service, they keep saying someone will call you right away to solve this problem. It has been 4 days since and no one is calling. So i have been calling everyday and I get told the "sorry you are having problems, I will forword this to someone". I can't believe that it has been this difficult to deal with. There is so much more I can tell you but it would take hours to type it.

POST 5Original post

Taking "hours to type it" is better than posting up unsubstantiated rants without any details. If you are looking for assistance, suggestions, or sympathy from other members, you will get it more readily if you present your side of the story in a rational manner without the brand bashing and incoherent ranting. Another post like the first one in this thread will get it closed.

POST 6Original post

I agree with Interpol, obviously your problem is with a specific party (George Gee Porsche in Liberty Lake WA). I'd say cool down and write a detailed report and attach to it pictures, invoices... etc. and mail/fax it to Porsche North America with a Cc to George Gee Porsche . The worse case scenario is that nothing will happen, which is not very likely. You'll send your car to another service center and have it fixed on your expense. And I don't see will be costly after all. The best case scenario, this George Gee will be kicked in the butt and contact you to resolve the matter. But I won't recommend writing the letter in your mood. A bad dealer is just a bad dealer, but the reputation of Porsche cars remain intact. Good luck and keep us posted.

POST 7Original post

I agree with Hassaan and Interpol; we can all sympathize with your frustration, but it hardly warrants a blanket condemnation of Porsche . Many of us have had issues with our cars, and our local dealers/ Porsche N.A. went out of their way in many cases to take care of their owners. Unfortunately, it appears that you ran into a dealer with less than stellar service; however, if you have been ranting at them on the phone, like you have here, then perhaps that's why they aren't returning/accepting your calls. By the way, in the U.S. the cats are covered under an 8yr/80k mile Emissions warranty . . . ask me how I know.

POST 8Original post

I wish that would be what happens but the closest dealer is Boise which is 10 hours away. I will have it fixed locally instead of paying alot of money to have it shipped and having porsche say they won't fix it. Porsche cust service hasn't even done what it needs to fix the cats. which are still under the factory warranty. I'm not ranting. My mood is fine. Im just not going to get pushed around anymore. You want me to verify with records, I will. Just got a call from Porsche cust. service. The just told me they can't promise that they will fix the motor. They have said that I have to pay to have the car shipped to Boise out of my own pocket. They have said they are not sure that the cats will be warrantied. Her name was Amiee, she is a manager at the call center. She has said that its a maybe that they will warranty them. They are saying they can't do anything about the dealership. They are independant and can do what they want. Porsche can't make them do anything so their name is getting ran into the ground in this area. Here are the dates that the check engine light came: 9/4/10 5:27pm 50237 P0431 9/12/10 1:54pm 50623 P0431 9/13/10 6:14pm 50821 P0421 10/1/10 5:28pm 51503 P0431 11/1/10 1:53pm 52107 P0431 11/4/10 4:09pm 52159 P0431 11/11/10 1:09pm 52208 P0421 12/09/09. Manifold replaced at Spokane Porsche service invoice pocb258973 car sat for the winter. 05/05/10 service # pocb262877 "Customer states he hears a ticking noise from engine" "Noted no abnomal noise from engine" 06/04/2010 2:18 pm received car back, still a ticking noise, put on lift and bolt missing pick taken, shown on above post. 06/04/10 Called porsche spokane at 2:25pm Left message for service. NO RETURN PHONE CALL. Called Porsche customer service on 07/01/10 about situation, NO RETURN PHONE CALLS. 09/04/10 Cat code started again, called spokane and customer service, NO RETURN PHONE CALLs Have called Porsche customer service 5 times adn my cats are still not fixed and now motor is damaged and being told by cust ser. that they can't promise the cats of motor will be fixed. I talked to Amiee for 38 minutes, very calm and collected and she says she is so sorry but there is nothing that can be done or promised. Her words are "If you take it to a dealer then they can look at the cats and motor at your own cost, then maybe they will fix it. Can't promise the cats will be fixed even though they are under warranty. Will have to get it there on own dime" I think that I have been very collective and calm and have given Porsche AG and spokane dealer plenty of time to do the right thing.

POST 9Original post

Now the car has bad cats. and a bad motor! Car isn't worth anything. I told her I will have the motor fixed locally at own cost and that it will go straight to spokane to have the cats replaced. She told me that porsche may not cover the cats even though they are under warranty. So that is the plan. This is a PORSCHE . I shouldn't hava had to do any of this. tha car should have been picked up on 06/05/10 and fixed properly. Doesn't anyone agree?

POST 10Original post

I would agree with others, you need to remain calm. First off, who told you that your motor was bad? I thought it was still sitting at your house?? The problem you have is that you have an early 2006 Cayman S with the early 2005/2006 ECU programming and first generation Cats on the exhaust . These will trip check engine lights for the codes you reported above because the ECU will see values outside of the desired table range because the first gen cats didn't scrub the exhaust enough and the first gen ECU tables were too tight. Porsche has consistently done 2 things FOR FREE under the Emissions warranty (which is longer than the 4/yr/50K factory warranty so don't let them tell you your car isn't under warranty because it is for emissions and this IS an emissions issue). What they MUST do (or you can sue if you wish) is to replace your factory header/cats with the newer generation AND flash your ECU with the new ECU code. These 2 things in concert will fix the codes you are getting. This is WELL DOCUMENTED within Porsche and anyone from Porsche who tells you otherwise either is clueless or lying to you. Don't give up, but be firm in your demands. Oh and yeah don't go back to that crappy dealer either...

POST 11Original post

Understand that as has been said, this treatment does not come from factory headquarters, but is coming from a specific DEALER. Whatever Customer Service one receives from said dealer always reflects upon the company, for better or worse. That is perception. Hope your situation gets resolved favorably, bruddah. In the meantime it would be nice to have a listing of dealerships whose CS is sub-par. Of course, in this litigious society, that is probably next to impossible. But you can always check your local BBB before doing business with a specific dealer.

POST 12Original post

BTW none of those codes indicate a faulty engine or a bad lifter, a bad lifter would produce MISFIRE codes and you don't have any, I suspect your "ticking" noise is actually normal for your engine, H6 engines make lots of ticking/rattline noises, it is just the nature of the engine.

POST 13Original post

This is why I didn't buy a Porsche (or BMW or MB) in the 15 years I lived in Bozeman, MT. No dealers within hundreds of miles. Had to drive Audi 's if you wanted a nice car serviced under warranty locally. I knew a guy who bought a Bentley, he'd send his jet to AZ to pick up guys to service his car. I'm not that rich unfortunately.

POST 14Original post

Thanks for the info on the cats. I will use that. We know the motor is bad because I'm a ASE cert. mechanic. I run a local shop here and I am the shop manager. I have taken it to another euro repair shop for a second opinion and they have agreed that is either a tappet or a lifter issue. The noise started on start up last 2weeks ago sat. There is a very bad ticking/knocking coming from intake valve on cylinder 3. You can use a stethoscope and hear it clearly. I know these motors have "loud valves" but this is a massive noise compared to the rest. We are tearing it apart tom. to see what is all damaged.

POST 15Original post

Hey rxsevn89, Sorry about your problem and your post should be left up! I really hate it for you but the others are right. It isn't Porsche that is being crappy it is your dealer. The dealerships are independently owned and Porsche really can't force them to do repairs. Not to beat you when you are down but I probably wouldn't buy a Porsche or any other make when there is no local dealership. That said I see your Cayman is a 2006? What type of warranty do you have? Certified Porsche or other? If CPO you just have to go up the chain and find the right person. I had a problem with a 2006 Boxster and the regional manager did everything in his power until the car was fixed. Your warranty may have expired but that shouldn't matter if the first repair was done incorrectly. You should also be in good shape with the exhaust and its extended warranty. My wife had a Jeep Cherokee exhaust problem fixed after 7 years of ownership log after the bumper to bumper expired. Good Luck !!!!

POST 16Original post

We havn't checked the misfire codes yet because the weather here is crazy. it has been in the single digits for a week. this is the first day we havn't had massive snow. The roads are clear enough to get the car to the shop from the garage.

POST 17Original post

Customer service said the regional managers won't get involved. I have left very polite mess. for him and he hasn't called

POST 18Original post

One of the things you have to realize is that the DEALERSHIP is an independent operation separate of Porsche AG. They are two different and distinct businesses. Your gripe is with the dealership for shoddy work, not with Porsche USA. As such, Porsche USA may not wish to get involved. Your recourse is not to rage on Porsche , but to begin a legal action against the dealership. First you have to give the dealership every opportunity to repair the car on their dime and rectify their mistakes. This would be at no cost to you (including pickup and transport of the car). Don't touch the car yourself if you want to pursue a legal remedy with the dealer. Don't talk to them on the phone, either. You need a paper trail, with letters sent to the person in charge. Keep all letter factual, with emotions or opinions out of them. There's a right way and a wrong way to handle this - so far you've done everything wrong. Re-think your position and handle it like a professional if you want it fixed correctly. Good Luck! Been there - done that. I learned how to get dealers to respond, too.

POST 19Original post

Lighten up dude. I too have been very frustrated with Porsche. The people in Atlanta are worthless and I am currently taking legal action against my dealer. I have been a Porsche owner for over 35 years – the cars and the people have changed over the years, but what else are you going to drive?

POST 20Original post

I apologize for the profane words but I think some people understand. I love my cayman to death and I will always try to have one. But the porsche ag cust service should at least get involved and get the dearship to do something and they don't want to. I don't care if I shouldnt be upset with porsche ag. Its their car they made it and should represent it. If I put out cars with crappy repair jobs it would look very bad on me and my owner. If your names on something why would you let someone destroy it? I wouldn't.

POST 21Original post

It sounds like you are completely right about the dealership, but need to handle it differently. drcollie's post said it perfectly. Write letters in such a way that if others read them they will hear only reasonable thoughtful words. You can be strongest if you write with an ear of how it would sound to a third party.

POST 22Original post

We all understand you are angry and frustrated at being in the situation you are in. I don't think anyone else in your shoes would be feeling any differently. That isn't the point. If you are communicating with that dealership and/or Porsche in the same manner/tone that you used in your first post here, it's not surprising that you're not getting results to your satisfaction. And then to post inflammatory statements and profanity with the conclusion that people should reconsider buying a Porsche (on a Porsche forum no less), and that you should have bought a Ford or Chevy borders on flame/troll bait. None of that is justified nor does it belong here, which is why I mentioned that if it continued (and so far it hasn't), this thread would be shut down. That has not changed. I think all that needed to be said about your poor choice of words has been said, so let's get back to discussing the gist of your problem.

POST 23Original post

Like I said im sorry but I had to vent because I have been brown noseing porsche cust service center so much and not getting anywhere and the dealer wont even call the cust service center back ( she said she left 2 messages for them and it took them 1 week to get back to Porsche ag) that I had to vent. I have been nothing but nice to them and they dont seem to care about any of it. Thats why im so mad. Its their name on the car.

POST 24Original post

Look, I UNDERSTAND. You need to understand my point - that your manner of venting was not appropriate for this forum, regardless of what excuse you have. You do not need to keep justifying yourself. Please, let's not continue to debate this. If you want to vent the way you did, then do it elsewhere and save this forum for calmer and more rational presentations. Thanks!

POST 26Original post

By request of the OP, I'm going to close this thread. If anyone has an objection please PM me. Edit 1/11/11 - Thread reopened at request of OP as more information has come to light.

POST 29Original post

Looks like a few Porsche owners need to calm down. Threatening to close the thread....cut the guy a break. There are a crappy Porsches out there that were built by Porsche AG. Deal with it. No need to get all defensive about it. If this is an open forum, all "opinions" should be respected and the guy should be allowed to vent.

There are acceptable ways to vent and there are ways that are a violation of TOU. It has nothing to do with the fact that someone is complaining about Porsche ; in fact, if complaints were not allowed why do we even have a complaints subforum here?? Nobody is getting defensive. If the OP had worded his original post with less hyperbole and profanity, none of this would have come up. This was already discussed and debated; you do not need to bring it up again.
