Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Was looking at cars this weekend. Found a nice 2016 Cayman but the tailpipe was covered in soot - both inside and outside. It reminded me of the old car diesel tailpipes. On 987 models, this was a possible indicator of a problem. Does this apply to the 2016 models?

POST 2Original post

Did you cold start the car and was there any smoke on startup ?

POST 3Original post

No. Went there on Sunday so place was closed. Car was in perfect condition except for the tailpipe.

POST 4Original post

Not necessarily a problem. I've always had a little soot on the chrome (2010 2.9L). I don't burn oil or see smoke except the common issue of short start/off/start when I wash it in the driveway. I just hit the tip with chrome polish every month or so. Kinda makes me wonder why they didn't detail it better.

POST 5Original post

Mine has always been like that, bought at 15,000 miles now I have close to 40,000 with no oil use.

POST 6Original post

Same here on a 2010. 83k and no oil consumption. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

POST 8Original post

I think some sooting is pretty normal.. 2010 CS.

POST 9Original post

Must not have been too bad. I checked and the car is gone.
