This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I am in the market for a used 911. Please let me know which is the better buy, thank you - 2001 Porsche 911 coupe, 45k miles, $21.5k 2003 Porsche 911 coupe, 55k miles, $23.5k I will be having them inspected with a PPI if I pursue either.

POST 2Original post

Everything else being equal I'd go with the 2003. I know that improvements were made in the 996 over the years, but I can't recall which year had what improvement. I'd do some inquiries on ******** forum where there is a very active 996 forum.

POST 3Original post

If the 4S checks out, id get that. The *** on those things is so sexy.

POST 4Original post

I'll side with the 2003 as well. IMO the C4s was the only real looker of the 996 run.

POST 5Original post

I know you didn't ask but if I were to buy a 996 I'd go with the turbo, or GT2. The Mezger engine doesn't have the IMS issues that all of the other 996 cars were subject to.

POST 6Original post

I agree but you aren't going to be able to buy either car you suggest for the low $20Ks.
