Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i have just had a permanent spoiler fitted but now am left with the malfunction light on the dashboard and the error message on the computer. does this mean a trip to a porsche specialist or is there something I can do to stop this from happening? cheers

POST 2Original post

On the Porsche Aerokit there is a small wiring harness which goes to the plug where the rear lid loom connects, to disable the spoiler light. Part Number: 996 612 070 51. About £75. I believe you can re-wire the existing plug to stop it happening though. Try trawling www.renntech.org

POST 3Original post

You need a different wire harness from Porsche to bypass the original spoiler electrics. Have a read of this thread... http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=39020&highlight=harness :thumb: (Oops, Richard H beat me to it)

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

can anybody help me find someone who sells these wiring looms. I have fitted a fixed spoiler (with brake light) and believe I need the 996.612.070.55 part (rather than the 51 part) can't find anything doing a google search. cheers

POST 5Original post

Go to your local Porsche dealer service department, it's cheapest direct from them...

POST 6Original post

Have you also removed the 3rd brake light from the body and fiited the blank plate? TB

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

no I haven't. the light still functions (as far as I am aware). I have been quoted £170 by a specialist parts supplier and £185 from Porsche dealership !!!!! I might stick with the error light on the dash :x

Try this http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1576&hl=wiring++harness or this (read the bottom part about jumping pins if it applies to you) http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=50&hl=wiring harness&st=0 :thumb:
