Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I highly recommend L Seat leather seat covers. My only recommendation is have a professional shop install them.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ZuffenZeus, thank you for the input. I'm assuming that you have the leathers replaced on yours and therefore I would like to know how the quality of the leather compares to the OEM,

POST 4Original post

The leather from L Seat is thicker than OEM factory leather. Personally, I think that's a good thing and will hold up better. The thin leather will have a certain look and feel that a lot of owners prefer, but IMHO doesn't hold up over time. L Seat leather matches with the OEM perfectly too. If you have graphite grey interior, the L Seat color that matches it is called "DIM GREY". Here is mine...

POST 5Original post

I've no experience with L Seats or the link below. I've only come across two companies that seem to offer seat covers for 996. This link popped up on a 996 Facebook group so I saved it. https://sellerieduparc.fr/

POST 6Original post

Gahh makes high quality seat upholstery but are expensive. They do have a 25% off sale going on right now. GAHH Automotive | Convertible Tops | Seat Upholstery | Carpet Kits ZuffenZeus, did those cover come with the embossed Porsche logo?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The seats look great, I see that you have the embossed logo also which is good to see that they have the option. Thank you for the pics and it looks like I will go ahead make the purchase from L Seat.

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 19824981

Yes, it's an option from L Seat. Lots of different options, but I wanted mine as close to factory look as possible.

POST 9Original post

I would start with Classic9 . Don't have any experiences with them, but their works looks incredible . I've never seen a 996 with reupholstered seats that has not been a let down in quality. If the leather hide doesn't match in texture (never mind color), I guarantee the look won't be correct. Different leather material folds & moves differently than OEM material, and can create a 'bubbly' less than sharp installation. I borrowed these from Classic9's website, very precise looking-

POST 10Original post

Bumping this thread because Im about to redo my seats and looking for any and all input. I have a lot of experience with the L Seat replacement covers. We used them for a while at a Land Cruiser restoration shop that I used to manage. We eventually stopped using them because we were getting a lot of returns because the dye was fading and rubbing off. The other issue I see with the L Seat leather in regards to our Porsche applications is that it is "Genuine" Leather and has the rougher texture, as opposed to our factory leather with is the smoother, softer Nappa leather which I much prefer. The problem with Classic 9 is its $2k for the 2 seats. Im probably going to order the kit from Ridies.com, in Nappa Leather and do it myself. I have done two sets of Land Cruiser seats and it was not fun at all, especially considering you have to use hog rings and special pliers. But the Porsche seats do not use hog rings and it looks a little easier from what Ive seen. The Nappa leather is $750 and looks really nice in the pics. Has anybody used the Ridies seat covers and any tips on install or photos? EDIT: it looks like you do use hogrings in the center section of the seat, but not many. Helps to have a bag full of hogrings and actual hogring pliers, but regular pliers will work in a pinch.

POST 11Original post

I've come across this company. I've not used them. A few people on Facebook said they were good. https://sellerieduparc.fr/

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank s for the input on Lseat studawg. I just visited Ridies.com and I do like that they offer the Napa but what I don't see is the embossed logo availability. They however can do stitching but OEM seats have the logo embossed on the headrest which I would like to have/keep.

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 20043650

You can get the Porsche crest embossed, if you read the fine print on the page you select your options, on the bottom it says they will do it if you provide the pic. I havent called them yet but I wouldnt be surprised if they have that on file or something

POST 14Original post

Every LSeat I have seen have wrinkles I would look at others.

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 20043755

Yes I was recommending against Lseat and suggesting Ridies. But wrinkles in general can just be a result of a poor installation. There are also methods to remove wrinkles after the install, like setting the seat out in the sun as well as using a steamer to kind of massage them out.

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 20043755

Here is a picture from tonight. The last one I posted was from last year - a month after I had the professional upholsterer handle the job. Since then, the leather has pulled tighter on the seat as would be expected when leather is exposed to summer heat. Yes, the leather is thicker than the OE leather; but personally, all of my OE Porsche seat covers got wrinkled from use. I still have some OE covers in storage. IMHO, Lseat is the best bang for the buck. For around, $500-$600, you can purchase a pair of seats covers with embossed Porsche logo. And.. when you have them professionally installed, they will look better than most covers.

POST 17Original post

100% agree they are probably the best bang for the buck. The Lseat leather definitely seems durable and maybe they got the dye thing sorted out by now. Those seats look great. Theres an even cheaper kit on ebay but I have no experience with it. Ridies is not much more though and offers the Nappa leather. But Im now debating whether I want to do it myself, pay someone else to do it, or buy another set of good used seats. Maybe all the above while a take the time to recover my current seats....

POST 18Original post

I have looked at the links posted for seat covers and this is my next project to tackle. L Seats is the only I am seeing that has the embossed Porsche on the headrest.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
