I had to chuckle at the “ not to rush “ bit too - how many years have you been looking ? That black one looks good but as you say no lift ( which I certainly needed to use a fair bit ) and no idea of how many owners previously but a low mileage obvs. The spec is also “ pretty basic “ ie the options list was left well alone.

Plus, it was the best condition/original car I could find which was worth more to me than a rare colour.

When they had it for sale it looked immaculate and had around 11k miles. If that’s the same car (hopefully not) it’s been modded, cage replaced or painted, tracked / drifted and used in the snow / salt looking at its current owners instagram. Either way it’s a lovely colour and interesting price.

Either way it’s a lovely colour and interesting price. The RG car was Jonny’s and knowing him it would have been absolutely immaculate with that mileage. Mine when it was sold had 8000 miles. Phil’s car is not the same car. There is a pic somewhere with mine and Jonnys together at Althorp when the previous owner had his. I still miss mine but had a large photo poster made of it which remains in my garage !

POST 60Original post

Colour is lovely but car is £20k more than many other cars with lower owners, mileage and modifications. I have been looking for a GT3 for a few months and the prices confuse me. Visited JZM and had a good chat with Russ and a good look at the 3 997 GT3s in stock. The white one had the best spec and has some nice mods, the black one was basic, very low miles and not sure I liked it in black. The red one was again basic spec but not sure about red from a resale perspective? RPM had a blue one that has just sold and based on this Riviera Blue one it seems like it was a bit of a bargain as only 1 owner from new? Will keep looking. Maybe the right one at the right price will turn up. N

POST 61Original post

donutskidmark said: Car looks the business- great spec….. BUT - personally I think being the 9th owner would put a lot of potential buyers off Agree, that may be seen to stigmatise it. Also, assuming these cars are now garage queen ‘toys’, rather than ‘track hacks’, I would expect it to have PCCBs to be the ‘ultimate’ spec. Of course, these could be retro-fitted, at a cost, but would be brand new, so last the life of the car.

POST 62Original post

GT4RS said: I think this will go down to how deep 1PTS pockets are. Jonny finance are you tempted to have a bid? Must say, love the carbon but the painted console did cheery up the cabin somewhat .. Think in the 997 GT cars one could chose various seat options. You see lots 997 GT2 RS with the leather folding buckets ?? Agree, nomex far comfier surface to work from

POST 82Original post

And talking of wear items. God help you if your carbon gear knob delaminates. They are mental money and near enough unavailable. Even that little gear top insert, which does wear/fade, is near impossible to source. Luckily I had a pal with more interesting new/old parts than Porsche who had one !!

The only part thats started to look a little tired is the grey painted part on top which I would like to replace! If you have any leads...Pm

Will do. Annoyingly the gear knob top insert off the GT2 RS is available but has the red script

136+fees and 3 hours to go! Already more than I would have paid for a colour but I do totally understand - probably never get the opportunity to buy a RB car in this condition ever again.

POST 87Original post

I understand what your saying but I’ve always positively campaigned this particular car as a stand out. It’s not just the colour, factory first paint & the one off spec - it’s the condition. You have got to always get underneath to assess and determine if it’s been correctly loved !

POST 88Original post

Starting to make PM’s car look not to bad a buy…

POST 89Original post

Well that’s suspect, countdown went to 0 with no new bids added and another 2 mins were added.

POST 90Original post

Well odd last bidding but final hammer price was 165k plus fees … mental.

POST 92Original post

And there we have it folks. The market has spoken - shouted even…. ‘She’s only worth what someone will pay’ Special cars command Special prices

POST 95Original post

My prediction is that car will appear again in a year or so having been in storage at DK for a “big collector”…..

Well well well... https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/porsch... Common as muck lately... Another Riviera blue GT3 - did this belong to anyone on here? RK11NZP - WP0ZZZ99ZBS780644 I think this may be the ex press car? Priced up at 159,500!

POST 97Original post

Coincidentally, Phil Morrison posted a new Driftworks video yesterday in which he confirmed that his Riviera 997 failed to sell when he advertised it last summer so he is keeping it, and has sold his 992 GT3 instead.

It is the press car, i owned it late 2013 to late 2017. Done very few miles since I sold it, went into a collection.

Lift is a relatively new obsession in my view. When the cars were new I don't think many people spec'd it as the early versions were reported to be not very reliable. Over time on subsequent models reliability improved, to the point where now people express sheer horror and outrage when a car doesn't have it

It wouldnt have stopped me buying the car though. (If anything maybe a plus as something less to go wrong ) Dan

They usually come with all the bells and whistles unless Porsche is trying to prove a point (i.e. I don't think Hebe had AC or PCM let alone front lift)

Nice video of Phil's car after it failed to sell last year. Not for the purists, but it does look good...

Still cannot get in my head why a blue one would be worth £40k more than any other colour one? Sure it’s a nice colour and probably worth some sort of premium but £40k?

Show me another clubsport 997.2 for sale with <30k miles for under 110k? There isnt one - actually there isn't any clubsports. So what you are comparing it too for the 40k premium? Id say the equivalent car in a standard colour from Porschw with warranty would be 120-130k?

POST 110Original post

I saw the one in Porsche Glasgow today. Looks amazing in that colour imo. Sold now too.

POST 111Original post

Glasgow had it in stock for three months. Initially offered at £159k, eventually reduced to £139k and likely sold this week for £136k

POST 112Original post

I thought the original £159k asking was punchy, considering that this is not the only RB car in existence. Lovely colour though and it still fetched good money.

POST 113Original post

Amazing how sparse and functional the factory interior was on these older GT3s, compared to the Sewing Bee interiors of modern GT cars. Not a criticism, just an observation.

rrroro said: Amazing how sparse and functional the factory interior was on these older GT3s, compared to the Sewing Bee interiors of modern GT cars. Not a criticism, just an observation. it should be criticised though - I know its all personal preference but when you've got more Carrera T's ( remember this is the "drivers" 911 ) being specced with Sunroofs and Stitching over rear wheel steer and LED's something has gone wrong. Unfortunately I'm old enough to remember when you could order a sports seat for just the drivers side. Sometimes you can give people too much choice.

POST 115Original post

I think it’s a valid criticism too. The days of buying a “Clubsport” Porsche and it basically being a Porsche race car with some road additions (carpets, heater and some NVH concessions) are now long in the past. It’d be easy to say it’s now a badge exercise with some bits to make you look hard at the latest track day but it hasn’t gone quite that far, but still… I suppose they know their market. How many people would really buy a Cup car with carpets and a PDK box these days even if they could? Or how many teams would be happy with GT3 road car fitted with solid bushes and a dog box if that was what was on offer? I guess the answer lies somewhere between the two. Regarding interiors, I guess the 90s RS road cars made do with leather seats so it’s not like their isn’t history there.
