Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Given the torrential rain that we have had these last few days and the car is parked on the drive, I would check the carpet under the passenger seat for damp/wetness, the ECU and immobiliser live under there and can cause all sorts of issues if they get wet :thumb:
Leading evidence: 'Check carpet' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check carpet' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

As above, re-check connections, and put back on the charger.

I would check for fault codes but if it is turning and not firing it could be crank position sensor or fuel pump, check for fuel delivery and make sure you have a spark, this is just the basics to start with.

I have manually checked the oil level and it's ok, when I installed my CTEK battery charger also about 10 days ago I loosened the two battery posts slightly to fit the positive and negative spade terminals of the charger onto the battery posts but I wouldn't have thought that would be why it ain't starting.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Just put some petrol in the car and tried to start the car still no joy, also checked under carpet under passenger seat and all dry, maybe defective petrol pump?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have had my car for 1 month now, at the moment with work and other things I have not had too much time to drive it.
This evening I went to start the car for the first time in 10 days and it wont fire up, there's plenty of life in the battery as it's been on charge, when you turn on the ignition the oil level indicator does not settle to tell you the correct oil level it repeatedly fluctuates without stopping then you try to start the car but the engine does not start. I have manually checked the oil level and it's ok, when I installed my CTEK battery charger also about 10 days ago I loosened the two battery posts slightly to fit the positive and negative spade terminals of the charger onto the battery posts but I wouldn't have thought that would be why it ain't starting.
Sorry for the long post but I was going to go on a nice evening run on my 3rd time in the car and this happens.
Apparently when I purchased my carrera 4 I was told to not let the petrol go down too far as it has the diff going between 2 halves of the tank and can give a false reading.
At the moment it has one quarter in the tank but my car has also been parked on my drive for 10 days, my drive has a slight slope, I'm clutching at straws here but I will go to the petrol station tomorrow and stick some in the tank and hope that it fires up.
I will report back tomorrow and let you know.
Yes the C4 has a horseshoe shaped tank and once fuel level gets to about half full the the computer guestimates remaing fuel.
Given the torrential rain that we have had these last few days and the car is parked on the drive, I would check the carpet under the passenger seat for damp/wetness, the ECU and immobiliser live under there and can cause all sorts of issues if they get wet :thumb:

I would check for fault codes but if it is turning and not firing it could be crank position sensor or fuel pump, check for fuel delivery and make sure you have a spark, this is just the basics to start with. As said loose battery terminals will cause a problem.
You also mention the oil level gauge is fluctuating, is this going up and down on the dash, never heard of that before but could be something to do with the ignition switch, they are known to cause unusual issues?
I contacted the place where I purchased the car and he said it's the crankshaft sensor, it needs to go back anyway for a couple of warranty issues, just have to sort myself out a recovery vehicle.
Looked at my breakdown details, I have homestart but it only takes me to a garage up to 20 miles away where the place I need to go to is roughly 70 miles away.
Need to phone some companies for some quotes.
Thanks for the replies, very helpful forum.
