The yellow engine check light went on and when I went to fill up on petrol from a quarter tank I put 20litres in and the needle did not move at all.

Only reason I thought they were linked in someone said the cel can be something to do with emissions and tightening the fuel cap could fix it ( it didn't)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone for all your help so far. I've finally picked up my 996t (arctic silver manual). Not without some funny moments like not being able to find reverse for a good 5 minutes till I pushed the gearstick harder! I'll share a few pics soon. Everything was going well then after a day of driving (approx 180 miles) 30 mins from home. The yellow engine check light went on and when I went to fill up on petrol from a quarter tank I put 20litres in and the needle did not move at all. I know I'll need to get the engine light diagnosed but just wanted to check if anyone else has had similar issue after driving for the first time and if the 2 issues could be linked? Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or this is linked to the engine being out recently. I do hope I can atleast fill a fuel tank properly! Thanks again all!

POST 2Original post

When my fuel gauge is reading low I need to add about £40 plus of fuel for it to register, I believe they're all the same. Doubt it's related to the cel light.

POST 3Original post

Congrats on your purchase. Regarding your fuel tank, you read this; http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=135777&highlight=

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks pzero. Puts my mind at rest on fuel gauge at least! I was putting the no 97 in at 1.36 a litre so my eyes were already watering at the 15litre mark. Only reason I thought they were linked in someone said the cel can be something to do with emissions and tightening the fuel cap could fix it ( it didn't)

POST 5Original post

My money's on the EML being caused by a lambda sensor. A niggly fault but not a biggy. Fingers crossed for you. :thumb:

POST 6Original post

The fuel gauge issue is well known here as a quick search will show. The 4wd models have a saddle tank and a small amount of fuel added to an empty tank doesn't register.

POST 7Original post

Well done on the purchase! Hope the CEL is a minor issue! Let's see some pics!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers! Here are a few from the first drive down to Dover on Sunday after picking up the car I'll have to take some better ones maybe on the bank holiday.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

last post didn't seem to work.

POST 10Original post

Nice car and colour. I saw one in Meridian Silver the other day. Also very nice.

POST 12Original post

Congratulations jay', looks an absolute beaut'. :thumb:

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys and a special thanks T8 for helping me with all my pre purchase questions that really helped a lot! Now getting the CEL diagnosed today and then I'm hopefully gobig to put a few miles on it this bh weekend!

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers Mervo what colour is yours? I really wanted a seal grey one initially but Arctic silver ones are all I could find. I must say the colour has really grown on me though and I wouldn't want any other now.. maybe oak green but I haven't seen a 996t in that colour yet.

POST 15Original post

Nice looking car, love the look of that front bar compared to my C2. Nice little lip spoiler on the back, do they all have that?
