Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello Good People --
Because of manufacturing issues with "socks and shoes," my new-to-me 996's highly anticipated stroll down the red carpet at the recent Metropolitan Gala did not unfold as originally planned. After an agonizing 22-month wait for BBS of America, Inc. to supply me with a set of E88's, I'm proud to publicly reveal my childhood dream car (a black-on-black 911 of any vintage though I would've preferred an air-cooled version -- Can you say "two kids in college?" LOL). Though it will never be completely done, its current iteration captures my general vision from many years ago. It's my unique and relatively budget-friendly take on the iconic 1973 Porsche 911 RS. Porsche purists may frown on my creative "design elements" but, frankly, I don't GAF! Hence, the vanity plate. I've owned the car since May 2022, and have put an embarrassingly few number of miles on it...sans a memorable date night and a few trips to Lime Rock Park in CT from my home in MA. I plan to enthusiastically add to the present 57K miles on the ticker beginning this driving season. Here are the basic ingredients:
- BBS 3-piece E88 wheels (custom spec)
- Ohlins Road and Track coilovers
- Cantrell Motorsports roll bar
- Recaro fixed-back seats (Profi SPG XL driver's side; Pole Position passenger's side)
- Schroth 6-point harnesses
- Fister sport exhaust
- Momo Mod 07 steering wheel
- Works Bell quick release and short hub
- RPM Technik carbon fiber duck tail
This is a rolling tribute to my late mother's life philosophy to "wait until you can get what you truly want." Like usual, I'm glad that I listened to her...though I'd be waiting a LONG time for an honest '73 RS. RIP, Ma!
Note, despite the track-oriented features, I readily admit that -- at this time -- I'm simply a shallow Porsche poser! LOL. The car won't see track duties anytime soon. I know that I will cry uncontrollably if I were to launch the car into the fence at [fill I the blank track]. I have a fully prepped turbo NC Miata for HPDE purposes.
Finally, I'd like to give a sincere shout out to zbomb (Jason) who patiently answered my many questions about wheel sizing, suspension settings, etc. Thank you, Jason!
Cheers
!
That's awesome. Love the plate. Will you be coming down to LRP for the Memorial day races? There will be a Porsche corral and possibly parade laps so you can try out the new shoes.
Thx very much. Yes, I plan to be at LRP on Monday for the Memorial Day races...baring unforeseen circumstances. My oldest daughter graduates from college that weekend so I will likely be broke, hungover, and tired!
Thx. Re the settings, my coilovers are set at a subjective "mature and optimal" ride height. I have a standard 996 GT3 alignment. The front wheels are 18x9; rears are 18x11.5. Tires are Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS; 235x40x18 in the front, and 295x30x18 in the rear. I don't have any rubbing and did not have to roll my fenders. For me, this combo works well on the street, but will also be able to perform appropriately on the track...for my currently modest skill level. Based on prior on-track experience w/ motorcycles and my turbo NC Miata, I've learned that I have strong, deep-rooted self survival instincts. In other words, I'm relatively slow!
Thank you very much. I appreciate the kind words.
That's the intent.
Note: I have a Fabspeed Porsche 996 Carrera Supercup exhaust system w/ approximately 1k miles on it. Thus, it's essentially brand new. The tone is "too aggressive" for my tastes...or, more importantly, the tastes of my wife who occasionally drives the car. Go to
www.fabspeed.com
for more info. My system does not include any tips, as I elected to utilize my OE tips which I will retain. Also, I do not have sound clips so please go to Fabspeed's website or YouTube for same. This system currently retails for $1,866.95+. I'll sell mine for $1,250 OBO. I'm happy to ship at buyer's expense. I'm also happy to deliver to Lime Rock Park, CT or anywhere within +/- 100 miles of Boston, MA. Kindly PM me if interested.
FYI, I attempted to post this in the Rennlist Classified section but I unfortunately don't yet have "
sufficient privileges to access [the] page."
To the administrators: My bad if placing an add in a thread outside of the Classified section gets me "black flagged." I'm obviously new to Rennlist and don't mean any harm. Thx.
