As deMort said, I had similar but worked ok when used normally, change to a bit of 'spirited' driving and under braking the lights went out!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Morning all, so I've removed the headlight unit for cleaning due to some yellowing of the plastic. Used the usual kit and it's come up much much better, great improvement. For some reason it's now stopped working completely, have refitted, it's sat correctly but no joy. Now I've only had the car a a couple of months so fairly inexperienced. Is there something else I need to do, missed off that would stop the whole unit working? Thanks To add...this is a 98 tip Carrera 2!

POST 2Original post

When you push it back in place you need to use the tool to fully seat it .. it should make a satisfying click when fully home . If this has already been done then the wiring plug is not seating correctly .

POST 3Original post

As deMort said, I had similar but worked ok when used normally, change to a bit of 'spirited' driving and under braking the lights went out! Seating them back in correctly is a must! HTH Powelly999

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know the reason why now, the connector is loose, looks like something has broken off so it pushes back instead Of connecting to the pins! Trying to figure a way to hold it in place! It may need a new one otherwisE, not sure which part though! Here is a video: https://youtu.be/rtoHd6PBp-A

POST 5Original post

Hi Matt, There's a slide clip goes up the back. With a bit of luck that may just have snapped. If it's the light socket itself then my mate Craig covers it down the bottom of this page on his thread - http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=118834&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=80 Hopefully it's an easy fix. :thumb:

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Mark Does the connector clip and stay in place by itself? I can see the yellow slide clip, this pins in the bottom of the connector but not the top. Really not sure what bit it broken!

POST 7Original post

If the headlight tray has broken where the connector sits you can mount the headlight then remove the wheel arch liner to push the connector home fully from behind the headlight.
