Have just replaced rear brake lines (gearbox dropped and replaced old lines with kunifer) and all of the flexis (front and rear).

Whilst I was working on the brakes, I decided to replace the brake nipples with HEL stainless steel nipples.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

(I debated a different heading - but decided to avoid getting told off...)
Am after some advice/thoughts.....
Have just replaced rear brake lines (gearbox dropped and replaced old lines with kunifer) and all of the flexis (front and rear). Whilst I was working on the brakes, I decided to replace the brake nipples with HEL stainless steel nipples.
However am having an issue - quite a few of the nipples are leaking.... Have tightened them up. I darent tighten them any further, for fear of stripping the threads....
I read that Marky911 had a similar issue, but have read that others have been fine. Am wondering if there is anything I can do to address the situation. Suspect the answer is to get some new OEM ones and take the HEL ones out (and bleed the system......again   ).
I seem to remember I had the same problem some years ago. The outer diameter of the threads on the aftermarket nipples was less than the outer diameter of the Brembo ones, making it easy for the aftermarket ones to leak and easily strip threads.
We re-machine them over in the UK but it is impossible to know exactly where the centre of the original thread is - so whatever you do when they are helocoiled - you might not line up with the countersink that seals at the bottom.
We made a tool to line up with the new thread and re-countersink the bottoms using a precision mill and a few jigs we made - perhaps there is someone over there can do the same job for you?

Thanks for all the replies - appreciate it...... I think the answer was inevitable.
So have decided to go on holiday and worry about it when I come home.....
Will then source some replacement genuine brembo nipples. The old ones came out fine but looked very tired. The calliper threads are all fine, so suspect its the difference in the profile of the cone thats the issue - comparing side-by-side, the HEL ones are a slightly different angle. Its a shame, as I liked the look of the HEL product.
Yep, stick with genuine Brembo.
All those aftermarket ones are pretty poor. They can't even make them with the correct angle taper on the nose (it's too steep). So you're sealing the bleed hole with the tiniest area on the point of the bleed nipple.
Any scoring, wear or previous damage in the seat at the bottom of the hole, means the fluid escapes and leaks out of the threads. Very annoying if it stains your freshly refurbished calipers.
Some folk get lucky, others don't. It's easier to just remove the risk by buying the proper ones.
Stick with genuine stuff. 8x Brembo ones cost about £44 on eBay. :thumb:
