Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Have had one new sitting on the shelf for over 4 years, but doubt it will get used since next time I have reason to drop the engine it will get changed to the UAOS.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I replaced my aos 20k miles ago with a Porsche part from fcp euro. Ultimate aos was on backorder and I needed the car.... I'm getting Smokey exhaust again. Could my aos be trash already?

POST 3Original post

Its possible, but they can last quite a while also. I installed my current AOS 120K+ miles ago. Have had one new sitting on the shelf for over 4 years, but doubt it will get used since next time I have reason to drop the engine it will get changed to the UAOS.

POST 4Original post

Its possible to have back to back failed new AOS

POST 5Original post

I have heard the new ones are crap manufacturing, poor quality and often fail frequently. Make sure you order from a reliable source. Or upgrade to the UAOS.

POST 6Original post

I had 2 fail back to back in the mid 2000s. The first one was a couple of years old. The second one was a couple of months old. So I then went with the only upgrade at the time which was the Motorsports AOS. It was more durable than the OEM AOS, but could not process any more oil quantity. A few years ago, Skip released the UAOS w/Track drain and I went with it. Incredible upgrade that fixes many issues. Wish it was available back in the mid 2000s.

POST 7Original post

I concur failure of new crap-quality AOS is for real. Happened to me prior to UAOS. Get your manometer out and check vacuum.
