Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was curious if anyone knows if a 996 C2 or C4 Cabrio clamshell will fit a C4S Cabrio? Looking side by side the dimension seem pretty much identical. The reason I ask is the reason you can't get an RTS to fit a C4S is the clamshell doesn't have the removable tabs the C2 and C4 Have for the b pillar mounting so thinking it may be possible to swap the clamshell and mount one.

POST 2Original post

Does the C4S have the threaded holes under the clamshell that the mounting blocks for the RTS screw into?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It does not, I assumed the rts Bolted onto the clamshell itself as I read that the rts on the 996 was able to be used and still use the convertible roof at the same time I figured it was lifted by the clam shell. If there are mounting blocks underneath rather than mounting to the shell I guess that answers my question. Shame if so, I'd really have liked to pop the bikes on to go to the local forest as a 996 rts is pretty easy to buy. My parter will soon have her 986 so I better get looking for a 986 RTS in which case but from my Boxster ownership know finding one of those isn't an easy task.

POST 4Original post

There are two holes on each side in the body shell of the car itself, underneath the tip of the clamshell, fitted with plastic bolts from the factory to blank them off. You unscrew these and into one you screw a permanent anchor, the other takes a bolt that allows you to attach the block to which the foot of the RTS mounts. There are also two threaded holes under the window seal near the top of the windscreen - these allow the mounting of a bracket that locates the other end of the RTS. Lift your clamshell and see if you have two black bolts in the body shell just under the tip of each side.
